The city of Straubing
Straubing is an independent town in the administrative district of Lower Bavaria in Eastern Bavaria. In the late Middle Ages, the town of Straubing was, alongside Munich, Landshut and Ingolstadt one of the capitals of the Bavarian duchies, which is still reflected in the impressive architecture today. Straubing is now one of four regional centers in Lower Bavaria and the administrative seat of the Danube-Wald planning region.

The urban area of Straubing stretches along Europe’s longest river, the Danube, in an east-west direction, with the majority located south of the Danube. North of the Danube, the villages of Sossau, Hornstorf and Unterzeitldorn and the area of the Öberauer Donauschleife, an oxbow of the Danube, with the hamlet of Öberau are part of the town. South of the Danube, the villages of Ehetal, Kay and Eglsee belong to the town of Straubing. The city stretches 13.5 km from east to west and 9.2 km from north to south. Straubing is not divided into districts due to its size. More recently incorporated districts Ittling, Alburg incl. Eglsee and Kagers and geographically independent places such as Hornstorf, Kay, Sossau and Unterzeitldorn are managed as separate districts. The town is located entirely within the Straubing-Bogen district and has the following neighboring municipalities: Parkstetten, Bogen, Kirchroth, Aiterhofen, Feldkirchen, Geiselhöring, Perkam, Atting.
Straubing is also home to Bavaria’s second largest folk festival, the Gäubodenfest. The main industries in Straubing are mechanical engineering and special machine construction, biotechnology, electrical engineering and electronics, automotive and logistics. The Bavarian crane manufacturer Sennebogen is currently building a new plant directly on the A3 highway and the B20 federal highway. The 25 million project is to become the new Customer Service Center, with 100 employees moving from Hebelstrasse in Straubing to Steinach. In the long term, 50 more jobs are to be created. The symbolic act of laying the foundation stone was performed by the brothers Erich and Walter Sennebogen, together with representatives from politics and the construction companies involved. Max Bögl is the general contractor for the project. In Steinach, right at the gates of the City of Straubing, two office buildings, spacious production halls and a state-of-the-art spare parts warehouse for the crane manufacturer Sennebogen are being built on a site of approx. 87,000 square meters near the Deggendorf freeway junction.
A state-of-the-art logistics environment with automated warehouse technology and optimized logistics processes is being created for the spare parts department. The fully automated spare parts warehouse with over 30,000 items holds 5,300 pallets and 37,400 small parts containers. Components weighing up to 20 tons can be stored and managed in the 28-metre-high large parts cassette warehouse. For such high buildings, large and special high-bay scissor lifts are required for maintenance and servicing, e.g. from Holland Lift or HAB. High-rack scissor lifts, also known as narrow-aisle scissor lifts, are available from 28m to 33m and thus cover everything for large projects.
