Manitou differentiates its telehandler portfolio into four clearly defined types. Which variant is right for you depends on three factors: lifting capacity, required reach and operating environment.

• Fixed telehandlers (MT series) — The boom arm is fixed rigidly to the chassis, with the load lifted at the front. High stability even without outriggers, linear power delivery during forward load travel. MT models cover lifting heights from 4 to 18 metres and lifting capacities between 2 and 4 tonnes. • Rotating telehandlers (MRT series) — The upper carriage rotates a full 360 degrees on the undercarriage. Loads are positioned precisely without needing to move the chassis. Saves time, protects the ground and reduces vehicle movement in hazard areas. • Heavy-duty telehandlers (MHT series) — Mining and Heavy Telehandler, designed for loads from 10 tonnes upwards. Reinforced lifting masts, hydrostatic all-wheel drive, three steering modes, drivable under full load. • Electric telehandlers — Lithium-ion battery, zero local emissions, low noise. Models such as the MT 625e bring diesel-equivalent performance to warehouses, food and pharma environments, hospitals and inner-city sites with noise and emissions restrictions. → Electric telehandlers

• Manitou MT 625 — Compact telehandler · Fixed, 2.5 t lifting capacity, 6 m lifting height, all-wheel drive. First choice for underground car parks, inner-city sites, landscaping. Particulate filter allows temporary indoor use. Also available as an electric variant (MT 625e).

• Manitou MRT 2150 — 21-metre rotator · 360° rotating, 5 t lifting capacity, 20.6 m lifting height. Medium building heights up to five storeys, standard construction logistics, industrial assembly. Available in the fleet as the MRT 2150 Privilege variant.

• Manitou MRT 2660 — Vision Plus class · 360° rotating, 6 t lifting capacity, 26 m lifting height. Vision Plus generation with RFID attachment recognition. Moving heavy precast concrete elements and steel beams, industrial assembly at medium heights.

• Manitou MT 1840 — Building construction standard · Fixed, 4 t lifting capacity, 18 m lifting height. Hydrostatic transmission, three steering modes (all-wheel, front-wheel, crab steer), particulate filter. Standard machine for building construction and steel beam logistics. → View the MT 1840

• Manitou MRT 3060 — Vision Plus premium · 360° rotating, 6 t lifting capacity, 30 m lifting height. The greatest reach in the standard rotating class. Industrial assembly, steel construction, large sites with tall external façades.

Four sectors dominate rental demand. The right model choice depends on lifting capacity, lifting height and terrain requirements — the following pairings are the most common in practice.

• Building and structural construction — Supplying floors with bricks, mortar silos, steel beams and precast elements. Standard machines: MT 1440 (14 m) and MT 1840 (18 m) for buildings up to six storeys, MRT 2150 (21 m) for high-rise projects requiring rotating load positioning.

• Industrial assembly — Plant construction, façade installation, steel hall construction, power plant projects. The MRT series with a personnel work platform becomes a heavy-duty aerial work platform — operator qualification level 2a under DGUV Principle 308-009 is mandatory here. RFID attachment recognition automatically adjusts the load chart when tools are changed.

• Mining, steel construction and heavy industry — Moving coils, steel plates and machine assemblies beyond the 10-tonne mark. The MHT series is the market leader in the heavy-duty telehandler segment. The MHT 10200 (20 t) and MHT 11250 (25 t) replace space-hungry heavy-duty cranes with outriggers in many cases.

• Agriculture and recycling — Agricultural MLT models (with Stage V engine and greater reach than a standard MT) for farmyard work, silage, and manure and straw logistics. Available from Luibl on request — speak to our scheduling team directly.

The true strength of a Manitou telehandler lies in combining it with the right attachment. The quick-hitch system (E-Reco) automatically recognises the attached tool and loads the matching load chart — a safety benefit, especially on MRT models with frequent tool changes during ongoing operations.

• Pallet forks and load forks — Classic pallet transport in construction and logistics. Optionally with side shift and fork positioner.

• Load hooks and cable winches — Turn the telehandler into a mobile crane. The PT lattice-mast winch is ideal for lifting loads over obstructing edges or roof overhangs.

• Personnel work platforms — Up to 1,000 kg platform load, usable as a heavy-duty aerial work platform. Prerequisite: fall-arrest PPE, platform induction and operator qualification level 2a on MRT models.

• Buckets — Bulk material handling for landscaping, earthworks and recycling yards.

• Vacuum lifters — Combined with MRT models, the first choice for modern glazing and façade construction.

• Cylinder and pipe clamps, tyre grippers, positioners — Specialist attachments for industrial assembly, port handling and tyre service.

Operating telehandlers is subject to clearly defined requirements under DGUV principles, the German Health and Safety at Work Ordinance (BetrSichV) and the EU Machinery Directive. Knowing the requirements properly helps you avoid fines, insurance exclusions and — above all — accidents.

• DGUV Principle 308-009 — Operator qualification · Basic training covers level 1 for fixed telehandlers (MT series). For rotating MRT models, level 2a is additionally required — this training is assessed on rotating machines and is not covered by level 1. For platform use as an aerial work platform, level 2b is added.

• Mandatory fall-arrest PPE in the platform · When operating with a personnel work platform, personal protective equipment against falls is mandatory. It absorbs the whiplash effect of an unexpected platform swing — a sudden boom movement can throw the platform occupant out without fall-arrest PPE.

• FEM 4.004 — Annual safety inspection · All Manitou rental machines at Luibl are inspected annually to FEM 4.004 (hydraulics, safety systems, stability, load moment limiter). The inspection sticker is valid on delivery, and Luibl carries out follow-up inspections on long-term rentals at no extra charge.

• Stage V engines · Current MT, MRT and MHT models are fitted with Stage V diesel engines to EU Regulation 2016/1628 — a prerequisite for use in emissions-monitored industrial zones and municipal low-emission zones.

• Machine-specific induction · Beyond the basic qualification, every operator must be inducted on the specific rental machine — load chart, JSM joystick assignment, emergency lowering, outrigger operation. Luibl offers this induction with every machine delivery.

In Austria, the AM-VO (Equipment Ordinance) and AUVA guidelines on operator qualification also apply; German DGUV qualifications are recognised in most cases.

The daily rate depends on the type, lifting height, lifting capacity and rental duration. Three cost factors are central:

• Type and model class — Compact fixed MT models (MT 625, MT 930) sit at the lowest daily rate. Standard construction models (MT 1440, MT 1840) are in the mid-range. Rotating telehandlers (MRT 2150 to MRT 3570) are noticeably more expensive due to their greater complexity and lifting height. Heavy-duty MHT models form the top price segment, often with an individual project price.

• Rental duration — Daily rental (1–3 days) carries the highest daily rate. Weekly rental reduces this noticeably. Long-term rental from three months includes safety inspection, servicing and in some cases fuel service in the price, bringing the daily rate down to industrial levels.

• Delivery and attachments — Low-loader transport from the nearest of over 200 Luibl locations. Attachments (load hooks, personnel platform, cable winch, vacuum lifter) are calculated separately as a flat fee.
