Scissor Lift Hire – From the 6-Metre Electric Lift to the 34-Metre Rough Terrain Machine
Hire scissor lifts and scissor work platforms: electric, diesel, hybrid and high-rack from 6 to 34 m. Brands such as Holland Lift and JLG.
Anyone who needs to move material and personnel vertically needs a scissor lift that fits the task — not one that merely fits somehow. At Luibl Rental & Sales you hire scissor work platforms from a fleet that ranges from the narrow electric lift for standard doorways to the 34-metre rough terrain machine with 1,000 kg capacity. Whether you are looking for a scissor lift, a scissor work platform or a scissor hoist — the same design type is meant: a mobile elevating work platform to DIN EN 280 that raises its platform purely vertically on a scissor mechanism. Delivery comes from over 200 locations in the network in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and further European countries — by our own low-loader fleet. Whether a scissor lift or another design suits your job is shown in the comparison Rent a lifting platform – all platform types at a glance; you will find the entire fleet under rent aerial work platforms.
In scissor work platform hire, the selection follows three clear axes: drive (electric, diesel, bi-energy, hybrid), design type (standard or high-rack) and terrain capability (hall floor vs. shell construction). Anyone who knows these three axes makes the right machine choice in 90 % of cases.
The design types in our fleet
Electric scissor lifts for halls, interior fit-out and logistics
Electric scissor lifts are the standard solution for everything that happens under a roof: warehouse construction, hall refurbishment, ventilation systems, fire alarm systems, electrical installation, drywalling, exhibition construction. The fleet covers working heights from 6.30 m to 33.00 m.
-
Quiet and locally emission-free through pure battery operation — approved for indoor areas, food businesses and turnkey halls
-
Non-marking tyres on almost all models — no abrasion on industrial and hall floors
-
Narrow-gauge models from 0.76 m overall width (e.g. KB Lift S-78N, Genie GS 1432m E-Drive) — fit through standard doorways
-
Capacities from 227 kg to 1,000 kg
-
Manufacturers available in the fleet: Magni, Holland Lift, HAB, Genie, KB Lift, PB
Diesel scissor lifts for shell construction, facades and outdoor sites
Diesel scissor lifts are designed for unprepared ground, shell construction sites and facade work. Where an electric machine reaches its limits in range or terrain capability, the diesel scissor lift takes over.
-
All-wheel drive (4x4) and oscillating axle — handle gradients and uneven ground
-
Hydraulic outriggers — level the machine even on sloping ground
-
Generous platforms with extensions — working areas from 7 to over 9 metres in length on the top models
-
Capacities up to 1,000 kg (Magni DS3225RT, Holland Lift Megastar G320, Liftlux 260-25)
-
Working heights up to 34 m (Holland Lift Megastar G320: 33.70 m, Magni DS3225RT: 32 m)
High-rack scissor lifts for logistics centres
High-rack scissor lifts are the specialist class for modern logistics centres in which conventional machines are either too wide or too low. They combine extreme working height with narrow overall width and — depending on the model — the ability to travel at full working height.
-
Working heights from 18.50 m to 33.00 m for the topmost racking levels
-
Suitable for narrow aisles — matched to the aisle widths of common high-bay warehouses
-
Capacities of 500 to 1,000 kg for stocktaking, maintenance, sprinkler installation and warehouse conversion
-
Manufacturers in the fleet: Holland Lift, HAB, PB, Magni
-
Top model: Holland Lift HL330_E14_4WDS with 33 m working height
Hybrid and bi-energy scissor lifts for alternating operation
Hybrid scissor lifts are the answer to projects that alternate between outdoor site and hall as they progress. A diesel unit moves the machine across unprepared ground to the working position and charges independently of the mains; indoors, operation switches to pure battery power.
-
Working heights from 11.75 m to 27.20 m, capacities from 363 kg to 1,000 kg
-
All-wheel drive — capable on gravel, topsoil and gradients
-
No machine change when operating conditions change: one transport, one familiarisation
-
Manufacturers in the fleet: Holland Lift, Genie, PB
-
Top model: Holland Lift M250HYL25 Combistar 4WD with 27.20 m working height and 1,000 kg capacity
Choosing the right scissor lift – five decision criteria
Instead of a long model list, a short review of your own requirements helps. These five points are the ones that most often decide the matter in our consultations:
-
Working height: the working height is around 2 metres above the platform height — that is the operator's reach. Anyone working at 12 m height needs a machine with 10 m platform height.
-
Capacity on the platform: personnel, tools and material combined. With two fitters plus tools, 350 to 450 kg is realistic; for sprinkler installation, ventilation assembly or drywalling, rather 600 to 1,000 kg.
-
Ground: smooth hall floor = electric with non-marking tyres. Shell construction, gravel, sloping terrain = diesel all-wheel version.
-
Overall width and clearance height: do doors, gates or lifts have to be passed? The narrowest models in the fleet are under 0.77 m wide.
-
Drive and power availability: on sites without comprehensive power supply, bi-energy or hybrid machines make sense because they can switch between diesel and electric operation.
If in doubt, a call to our hire advisers is worthwhile — the right machine selection usually saves more overall than the difference in hire rate between individual classes.
Drive variants compared
Electric (battery): indoor areas, logistics, commercial halls, sensitive environments. Quiet, locally emission-free, charging from a 230 V standard socket. Range limited to the working day on a full charge.
Diesel: shell construction, outdoor sites, facade work, industrial premises. Highest capacity and terrain figures. Stage V engines on current models.
Bi-energy / hybrid: long outdoor deployments without a power connection, indoor operation later. Diesel for travelling, electric for locally emission-free work inside the hall. Sensible on sites with changing conditions. → View all hybrid scissor lifts
Safety and statutory inspection duties
Every scissor lift in the Luibl Rental fleet undergoes the statutory safety inspection (UVV) in accordance with BetrSichV Section 14 as well as DGUV Rule 100-500 and is checked by our workshop personnel before every delivery. Standard equipment includes: tilt alarm, overload protection (blocks lifting when the rated load is exceeded), a mechanical emergency lowering system and emergency lowering from the ground on both sides.
For safe operation the following applies: operating personnel must be instructed in accordance with BetrSichV Section 12 and DGUV Principle 308-008. Personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) is mandatory on the platform. If you need training for your employees, we can refer you to certified training partners (IPAF/PAL Card certified). A fitter can be requested on demand for the entire hire period.

What does it cost to hire a scissor lift?
The hire rate for a scissor work platform depends on five figures. Anyone who clarifies them in advance receives a comparable quote instead of a price range.
- Working height and design type: between a 6 m electric scissor lift for interior fit-out and a 34 m rough terrain machine lie several price classes. High-rack scissor lifts with narrow overall width form a segment of their own.
- Drive: electric scissor lifts for smooth floors, diesel all-wheel machines for unprepared ground and hybrids with both operating modes differ markedly in rate.
- Capacity and platform size: extensions and higher platform loads are reflected in the hire rate.
- Hire period: daily, weekly and monthly rates are staggered; from several months, long-term terms apply including statutory safety inspection (UVV) and maintenance during the hire period.
- Transport: delivery and collection by our own low-loader are shown separately and depend on distance from Passau, transport weight and site access.
Included in the hire rate are the inspected machine with a valid statutory safety inspection (UVV), maintenance and recurring inspections during the hire period, and technical advice on machine selection. Tell us working height, ground conditions, capacity, hire period and site location — then you will receive an itemised quote including transport.
