Before choosing a machine, clarify the following parameters:

Working height vs. platform height

The platform height is approximately 2 m below the stated working height. What matters for machine selection is the technician's actual standing height — not the manufacturer's figure on the data sheet.

Lateral outreach

Indicates how far the machine can work horizontally beyond an obstacle. Decisive for parapets, roof overhangs, or structures that cannot be driven under.

Basket load / load capacity

Platform load capacities range from 200 to 450 kg depending on the model. Tools, materials and all occupants in the basket must be calculated together.

Load moment limiter

An electronic safety system that automatically prevents overload and unstable outreach positions. Legally required and active as standard on all Luibl rental equipment.

Ground bearing pressure

Indicates the pressure load per square centimeter on the ground. For underground parking ceilings, industrial floors and compaction-sensitive surfaces, coordinate in advance with a structural engineer.

Note on leveling: Modern telescopic boom lifts allow automatic platform leveling up to a defined ground incline angle. Values outside this tolerance require leveling pads or an alternative machine.

There is no flat rental rate — pricing depends on several factors:

• Machine type & working height: Small telescopic boom lifts up to 20 m are priced well below 40 m+ machines

• Rental duration: Weekly and monthly rentals offer significant savings over daily rates; long-term rentals often already include the accident-prevention regulations (UVV) inspection and maintenance

• Transport distance: Delivery by our own low-loader is calculated based on distance and effort

• Special equipment: Specific tires (coarse-tread tires, hard-floor tires), basket size or additional equipment can affect the price

Recommendation: Request project quotes for multiple machines — for large construction sites, Luibl puts together combined rental packages with a single point of contact.

In Germany and Austria, no separate driving license is required to operate aerial work platforms. However, clear qualification requirements apply:

DGUV Rule 100-500 (Operation of Aerial Work Platforms) requires documented operator training. The employer is responsible for the qualification of their employees.

IPAF training (International Powered Access Federation) is the recognized industry standard for operator qualification — particularly for international projects and large enterprises.
