Rent telehandlers in Dortmund: 63 models up to 38.90 m

You can rent telehandlers for Dortmund from Luibl Rental from 63 models: 19 fixed, 36 roto and 7 heavy-duty telehandlers plus one electric model, with 4.30 to 38.90 m lifting height and 1,250 to 33,000 kg capacity. Between the canal port, commercial areas on the A1, A2 and A45, new halls on former colliery and steelworks sites and the dense city centre inside the Wallring, every site looks different. Five questions clarify which machine fits: How high, how far, how heavy, on what ground and with which tool? That is exactly how this page is structured. We deliver the telehandler from our location in Passau; you will find the other machines for the city under construction machinery rental in Dortmund.

Rent telehandlers in Dortmund: five questions narrow down 63 models

Answer the questions in order, because each answer reduces the choice for the next. All values come from the data sheets of our telehandlers.

QuestionWhat you measure beforehandAnswer from the rental fleet
How high?Height of the placing point above the set-up positionfixed 4.30–18.80 m, roto 15.42–38.90 m
How far?Distance from the set-up position to the placing pointroto with rotating superstructure, up to 27.00 m sideways
How heavy?Weight and centre of gravity of the largest single loadfixed 1,250–5,500 kg, roto 4,000–8,000 kg, heavy-duty 7,200–33,000 kg
On what?Ground, space for outriggers, hall flooroperating weight from 4,800 kg (electric MT 625e), Magni RTH 6.39SH 24,000 kg
With what?Forks, bucket, hook, winch or platformbucket, load hook, cable winch, lattice jib winch, work platform

Anyone who gives only one figure, such as the lifting height, can easily end up with a machine that lifts too little at the placing point. So send us all five answers, even if some are only estimates.

How high: fixed telehandlers cover most new buildings in Dortmund up to 18.80 m

Residential buildings in the districts, office buildings and most commercial halls are below 18.80 m. For them a fixed telehandler is usually sufficient. It drives up with forks, lifts pallets of blocks, insulation boards or scaffolding parts onto floor slabs and roofs, and repositions them without a crane having to be set up.

Fixed: compact and without slewing gear

A fixed machine works in the direction of travel. One example from the fleet is the Merlo P 40.17 with 16.70 m lifting height, 12.50 m forward reach and 4,000 kg capacity at an operating weight of 10,630 kg. Fixed models in the fleet carry 1,250 to 5,500 kg.

Above 18.80 m you switch to roto

If the placing point is higher, for example at the parapet of an office building or on high hall gables, only roto telehandlers are an option. In the fleet they range from 15.42 to 38.90 m. In the overlap range, the next question decides: how far from the machine the load is placed.

How far: roto telehandlers in Dortmund place loads even behind obstacles

A roto telehandler stands on outriggers and rotates its superstructure and boom. From one set-up position it reaches several placing points, even behind excavations, fences or projections. The largest model, the Magni RTH 6.39SH, achieves 38.90 m lifting height and 27.00 m horizontal outreach with 6,000 kg capacity. The further the boom extends, the less it may lift. The load chart is decisive, not the rated capacity.

City centre: one set-up position, many placing points

Between Westenhellweg, Ostenhellweg and the Wallring there is hardly any space next to the building. Here the machine is set up once and slews over backyards and canopies. If it stands on a pavement or carriageway, you need a special use permit and usually a traffic order from the city of Dortmund. Allow lead time for this.

Port and canal: distance from the edge

At Dortmund port on the Dortmund-Ems Canal, warehouses and handling areas lie directly on the quay wall. A roto telehandler keeps its distance from the edge and still places loads on roofs or hall projections. Access and parking area are determined by the port operator; please clarify this before ordering.

How heavy: heavy-duty telehandlers lift up to 33,000 kg in Dortmund

For machine relocations, plant construction and steel parts, seven heavy-duty telehandlers with 7,200 to 33,000 kg capacity and 9.40 to 11.92 m lifting height are available. They work where mechanical and plant engineering companies, steel traders and logistics companies move large single loads, for example in the business parks along the motorways around the city.

Centre of gravity and fork length decide

The rated capacity only applies to the load centre the machine is designed for. If a machine's centre of gravity is further forward or to the side, the permissible load decreases. So give us the weight, dimensions and position of the centre of gravity, with a sketch if necessary. We check the chart and tell you whether a forklift, a heavy-duty telehandler or a roto with hook solves the task better.

Walk routes and doors beforehand

Heavy machines need load-bearing routes and sufficiently large doors. Walk the route from the unloading point to the load and measure widths, heights and bends.

On what: the Dortmund ground determines how the telehandler stands

A telehandler transfers its own weight and the load into the ground via wheels or outriggers. In Dortmund this check pays off twice, because many building plots lie on converted industrial land and in the south of the city coal used to be mined close to the surface.

Outriggers on backfilled ground

On former colliery and ironworks sites the load-bearing capacity often changes over short distances. Backfilled cable trenches and freshly filled working spaces along hall walls give way under an outrigger. Place load distribution plates underneath and have uncertain areas assessed in advance. Indications of old mining belong in the risk assessment; the mining authority of the Arnsberg district government provides information.

Hall floor and door for the electric model

For work inside buildings there is the Manitou MT 625e. It is 1.81 m wide and 1.92 m high, weighs 4,800 kg and lifts 2,500 kg to 5.85 m. In operation there are no exhaust fumes on site. Check the permissible floor load, the door height and a charging point with a power supply.

With what: attachments turn the telehandler in Dortmund into a crane or loader

The tool changes the machine's task. In addition to the forks, you can rent:

  1. Bucket for gravel, sand, excavated soil and bulk material on construction sites and in depots.

  2. Load hook for pipes, manhole rings, precast elements and steel beams that need to hang freely.

  3. Cable winch for loads lowered under control into shafts, pits or openings.

  4. Lattice jib winch for assembly work where the hook needs to reach over roof edges or into halls.

  5. Work platform for short jobs at height, for example on lights, gutters or doors.

With hook or winch the telehandler works in crane mode, with a platform as a lifting device for persons. Both require an additional training level. If people work at height for longer, a telescopic boom lift is usually better suited. For lifting work in confined buildings there is a mini crane in Dortmund.

Transport to Dortmund: around 650 km from Passau via the A3 and A45

From our location in Passau it is around 650 km to Dortmund, mainly via the A3 and the A45. Smaller machines such as the MT 625e at 3.83 × 1.81 × 1.92 m travel on a lorry; large roto models such as the Magni RTH 6.39SH at 8.60 × 2.54 × 3.12 m and 24,000 kg come on a low-loader, depending on the machine with a transport permit. We therefore recommend booking early. We also deliver to the surrounding area, for example Bochum, Hagen, Holzwickede, Waltrop or Herdecke. Have a level, paved unloading area ready and, for plant or port sites, tell us the delivery gate. The transport costs are shown in your quotation; read details under Transport.

Duties for telehandlers in Dortmund: DGUV Regulation 68 and DGUV Principle 308-009

A telehandler may only be driven by someone who is at least 18 years old, physically and mentally suitable, trained and authorised in writing by the employer. This is governed by section 7 of DGUV Regulation 68.

Training levels under DGUV Principle 308-009

Level 1 is the basic training for fixed telehandlers. For roto machines and crane mode with load hook or winch, level 2a is added, and level 2b for the work platform. The familiarisation at handover explains the specific model but does not replace any of these levels.

Risk assessment and instruction

Before use, the employer assesses the hazards under section 3 BetrSichV, in Dortmund for example backfilled ground, old mine workings, quay edges, pedestrians in the city centre and overhead lines. Instruction is required by section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) and section 12 of the Industrial Safety Regulation (BetrSichV). If your staff lack a level, we provide information on training via certified partners free of charge and without obligation and put you in touch with a suitable provider.

Frequently asked questions about renting telehandlers in Dortmund

chevronDown

How does the telehandler get from Passau to Dortmund?

By lorry or low-loader over around 650 km, mainly via the A3 and A45. Depending on the machine, large roto models need a transport permit, so we recommend booking early. The transport costs are shown in your quotation.

What training does a telehandler driver need?

Training in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-009. Level 1 applies to fixed machines, level 2a to roto and crane mode, level 2b to the work platform. In addition, the person must be at least 18 years old, suitable and authorised in writing under DGUV Regulation 68.

Can a telehandler replace a mobile crane in Dortmund?

Often, yes. A roto telehandler with load hook, cable winch or lattice jib winch lifts up to 8,000 kg in our fleet and reaches up to 27.00 m sideways. For very heavy single loads there are heavy-duty machines up to 33,000 kg. For crane mode the operator needs the additional level 2a under DGUV Principle 308-009.

Do I need a permit for a telehandler in Dortmund city centre?

Yes, as soon as the machine stands on public ground. For a pavement, carriageway or pedestrian zone you need a special use permit and usually a traffic order from the city of Dortmund. State the dimensions, weight and period in the application and allow lead time.

Which telehandler is suitable for hall construction in Dortmund?

Usually a roto telehandler. It stands on outriggers, rotates the boom and reaches 15.42 to 38.90 m lifting height with 4,000 to 8,000 kg capacity in our fleet. Which model fits is shown by the load chart for the outreach at which you place beams or roof elements.
