Rent telehandlers in Duesseldorf: 63 models for every set-up position
You can rent telehandlers for Duesseldorf from us from 63 models: 19 fixed, 36 roto and 7 heavy-duty telehandlers plus one electric model, with 4.30 to 38.90 m lifting height and up to 33,000 kg capacity. In Duesseldorf, however, the load alone rarely decides the model. More important is the place where the machine stands: a building plot with a site road, a carriageway in the Carlstadt, a quay edge in the port, a hall floor in Stockum or a meadow on the Rhine.
The following sections go through these five set-up positions one after the other. For each we name the right type, the limits from the data sheets and the body with which you clarify the position in advance. Delivery is from our location in Passau.
Rent telehandlers in Duesseldorf: the set-up position determines the type
First assign your job to the place where the telehandler is to work. The table shows which type usually fits there and what you should clarify before your request. All values come from the data sheets of our telehandlers.
| Set-up position | Typical location in Duesseldorf | Type (number), lifting height, capacity | Clarify in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Building plot with site road | new-build and commercial areas | fixed (19), 4.30–18.80 m, 1,250–5,500 kg | load-bearing capacity of the site road, storage areas |
| Carriageway, pavement, inner courtyard | Altstadt, Carlstadt, Pempelfort, Bilk | roto (36), 15.42–38.90 m, 4,000–8,000 kg | city permit, outrigger area, overhead line |
| Quay edge, handling and storage area | Port of Duesseldorf, Reisholz port | heavy-duty (7), 9.40–11.92 m, 7,200–33,000 kg | port operator approval, load centre |
| Hall and exhibition floor | Messe Duesseldorf, airport, production halls | electric (1), 5.85 m, 2,500 kg | floor load, door dimensions, charging point |
| Meadow, park, unpaved area | Rhine meadows in Oberkassel and Loerick | fixed or roto, as light as possible | ground condition, Rhine water level, owner |
If your job fits two rows, for example a roof structure in an inner courtyard with a heavy ventilation unit, tell us both conditions. We will then compare load chart and dimensions against each other.
On the building plot, fixed telehandlers lift material up to 18.80 m
On construction sites with a paved site road, a fixed telehandler usually works. It picks up pallets of blocks, insulation or reinforcement, drives with the load across the site and places it on scaffolding levels or floor slabs.
Read lifting height and outreach in the load chart
Our 19 fixed models lift 1,250 to 5,500 kg and reach 4.30 to 18.80 m. How much of this remains at the placing point is shown by the load chart: the further the boom extends, the more the permissible load decreases. The Merlo P 40.17, for example, lifts 4,000 kg, reaches 16.70 m lifting height and 12.50 m outreach. However, it only carries the full load close to the machine. So tell us the weight and distance of the furthest placing point.
Design the site road and storage area for the operating weight
The Merlo P 40.17 weighs 10,630 kg. Freshly backfilled cable trenches and embankment edges give way under this weight. Route the site road so that the telehandler does not have to drive across the slope to the placing point, and store material where it can pick it up head-on.
On the street and in the courtyard, a roto telehandler often replaces the mobile crane
In the Altstadt, the Carlstadt, Pempelfort or Bilk there is usually no building plot. The telehandler stands on the carriageway, on the pavement or in the inner courtyard and has to bring material over eaves, facade or courtyard wall. Here the roto telehandler shows its strength: it stands on outriggers, rotates the superstructure and places the load at several points without repositioning.
Up to 38.90 m lifting height and 27.00 m outreach
Our 36 roto models reach 15.42 to 38.90 m and lift 4,000 to 8,000 kg. The largest, the Magni RTH 6.39SH, achieves 38.90 m lifting height, 27.00 m outreach and 6,000 kg capacity. With load hook or cable winch it brings roof elements, steel beams or ventilation units onto the roof. As with a crane, the permissible load only applies to the respective outreach and outrigger configuration in the load chart.
Measure passage and outrigger area beforehand
The Magni RTH 6.39SH measures 8.60 × 2.54 × 3.12 m and weighs 24,000 kg. Measure gateways to inner courtyards, check cellar ceilings and light wells under the outriggers and the street width with outriggers extended. If the machine stands on a pavement or carriageway, apply to the city of Duesseldorf for a special use permit or a traffic order.
Agree the clearance to the tram overhead line with Rheinbahn
The tram overhead line hangs above many streets in the city centre. An extended or slewed boom must not come too close to it. Agree such jobs in advance with Rheinbahn, which decides on shutdown, clearance and supervision. For listed buildings, also involve the lower heritage authority.
On the quay edge and handling area, heavy-duty telehandlers carry up to 33,000 kg
In the Port of Duesseldorf and at Reisholz port it is about heavy and bulky goods such as machine parts, steel or plant components. For this we have 7 heavy-duty telehandlers with 7,200 to 33,000 kg capacity and 9.40 to 11.92 m lifting height.
Choose load centre and forks according to the heaviest single load
The rated capacity applies to a defined load centre. If a machine part's centre of gravity is further forward or to the side, the permissible load decreases. Tell us the weight, dimensions and centre of gravity of the heaviest single load, and we will choose the model and fork length accordingly.
The operator approves set-up positions in the port
On port and handling areas, the rules of the port operator and the respective tenants apply. Clarify where the telehandler may stand and drive, what distance it keeps from the quay edge and which areas can carry its operating weight. On plant sites in Holthausen and Reisholz, registration, induction and, where applicable, approvals for Ex areas are added.
On hall and exhibition floors, the electric telehandler is used
For jobs in closed halls we have the Manitou MT 625e. It runs electrically, therefore produces no local emissions during operation and is suitable for exhibition halls, terminals, warehouses and production halls.
5.85 m lifting height, 2,500 kg capacity and 1.81 m width
The MT 625e lifts 2,500 kg to 5.85 m, reaches 3.40 m and measures 3.83 × 1.81 × 1.92 m. It thus fits through many hall and roller doors where a large telehandler fails. It weighs 4,800 kg. Hall floor, ramps and goods lifts must be able to take this weight.
Trade fair and airport: clarify approval and charging point
On the Messe Duesseldorf grounds in Stockum, the organisers and the trade fair company decide which machines may drive during set-up and dismantling. At the airport, the operator's access rules apply. If the job runs over several shifts, plan a charging point with a power supply.
On Rhine meadows and unpaved areas, the operating weight counts
The Rhine meadows in Oberkassel and Loerick are used for set-ups such as the Rheinkirmes fair and for site facilities, but lie in the Rhine flood area. After flooding or continuous rain the ground carries considerably less. Choose the lightest model that can do the job there: the MT 625e weighs 4,800 kg, the Merlo P 40.17 10,630 kg and the Magni RTH 6.39SH 24,000 kg.
Lay access routes with load distribution plates and follow the Rhine water level for jobs lasting several days. Clarify access and use of the area with the owner or event organiser. In parks such as the Hofgarten the telehandler stays on paved paths, and the parks department must agree.
Five attachments make the telehandler versatile in Duesseldorf
In addition to the forks, you can rent these attachments:
-
Bucket for sand, bulk material and excavated soil on the building plot
-
Load hook for slung loads such as beams or mesh boxes
-
Cable winch for loads that you lower and align as with a crane
-
Lattice jib winch for lifting work with greater outreach
-
Work platform for short jobs at height. For longer jobs a telescopic boom lift is the better choice.
For glass elements or loads in buildings with narrow access, a mini crane in Duesseldorf is also suitable.
Transport from Passau: telehandlers for Duesseldorf and the surrounding area
We deliver from our location in Passau. It is around 680 km to Duesseldorf, mainly via the A3. We agree the delivery date with you. For large roto and heavy-duty models we recommend an early request, because the transport requires more planning. Tell us the delivery address, unloading point and a contact person on site.
We also deliver telehandlers to the surrounding area, for example Neuss, Duisburg, Krefeld, Wuppertal and Cologne, as well as Ratingen, Meerbusch and Hilden.
Duties when using telehandlers in Duesseldorf
As the employer you are responsible for safe operation. Two points belong before every job.
Driving licence under DGUV Regulation 68 and DGUV Principle 308-009
Telehandlers are industrial trucks. Under DGUV Regulation 68 they may only be driven by persons who are at least 18 years old, trained and authorised in writing by the company. Training follows DGUV Principle 308-009: level 1 for fixed telehandlers, additional level 2a for roto models and crane mode with load hook or winch, additional level 2b for the work platform. On-site instruction is required by section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) and section 12 of the Industrial Safety Regulation (BetrSichV). We put you in touch with a certified training provider free of charge and without obligation: training via certified partners.
Risk assessment under section 3 BetrSichV
Before use you assess the hazards at the set-up position: ground, inclination, persons and traffic in the slewing area, overhead lines and wind. From this you derive barriers, banksman and rescue plan.
Request a telehandler for Duesseldorf: set-up position and load are enough
Describe the set-up position, weight and outreach of the load, the attachment as well as site address and period. We will then suggest the right model. You will find more machines for the city under construction machinery rental in Duesseldorf, all models in the telehandlers category.
