Scissor lifts for indoor and outdoor use

Scissor lifts are the standard solution for vertical work on level ground. They offer large platform areas, high load capacity and stable standing space for several people plus tools.

• Mini scissor lifts from 6 m: For example the Genie GS 1330 with electric drive – compact enough for narrow doorways, ideal for maintenance in office buildings, hotels and small warehouses.

• Medium electric scissor lifts 10 to 14 m: The Genie GS 4069DC with a 14 m working height and 4.4 m² platform provides space for up to 4 people, is quickly ready for use via the diagnostic system, and operates emission-free.

• Electric scissor lifts up to 23 m: The PB 225-12ES reaches a 23 m working height with a platform for up to 5 people – suitable for maintenance in taller halls, such as logistics centres along the Mittellandkanal.

• High-bay scissor lifts: Specialist equipment with 22 m, 28 m and 33 m working heights. The HAB S320-12E reaches a working height of 32.43 m with a width of just 1.20 m – it fits through standard sectional doors and narrow high-bay aisles.

• Rough-terrain diesel scissor lifts: Models such as the Holland Lift Megastar G320 handle unpaved terrain, gradients of up to 45%, and reach working heights of up to 34 m with load capacities of up to 1,000 kg. Used in shell construction, steel construction and on large construction sites around Hannover.

• Heavy-duty scissor lifts: The Magni ES1823RT with an 18 m working height and 680 kg load capacity allows heavy tools and several fitters to be carried.

All electric models operate emission-free and with non-marking tyres – relevant for exhibition stand construction in Hannover's halls as well as for maintenance work in the region's food industry.

Telescopic and articulated boom lifts for maximum flexibility

As soon as work needs to be carried out over obstacles – for example maintenance above existing installations or façade work involving overhanging components – telescopic and articulated telescopic boom lifts are the equipment of choice.

Key classes for Hannover:

• Telescopic boom lifts: Working heights of up to 58 m with a large outreach – used for industrial chimneys, warehouse roofs and bridge inspections along the Mittellandkanal.

• Articulated telescopic boom lifts: An articulating arm to get around obstructing structures – ideal in industrial halls such as the VW commercial vehicle plants in Stöcken/Limmer, where machinery, crane systems or ventilation ducts need to be bypassed.

Truck-mounted and trailer-mounted platforms for quick relocation

Truck-mounted aerial work platforms can be driven between multiple work sites by the hirer themselves. For tree care within the city, advertising sign maintenance, lighting work and roof renovations in List, Linden or Südstadt, this is a considerable advantage.

• Truck-mounted platforms with basket heights from 14 m to 50 m: Manufacturers such as Ruthmann, Palfinger and CTE in the rental fleet.

• Driving licence: Category B (up to 3.5 t) or C1/C (over 3.5 t), depending on vehicle weight.

• Trailer-mounted platforms: Can be transported with a standard car and tow hitch (B96/BE). Suitable for trade businesses and smaller maintenance jobs without a truck in the fleet.

In Hannover's city centre, a truck-mounted platform often removes the need to apply for a no-parking zone for a self-propelled machine – in use during the day, back at the yard in the evening.

Track-mounted and mast lifts for special applications

Track-mounted aerial work platforms are used where wheeled machines fail: soft ground, gravel, gradients over 50%, and tight courtyard entrances in older buildings. Case in point: During the build-up of an industrial trade fair, banner advertising had to be mounted at around 15 m height on the hall ceiling of a hall in Laatzen – while stand fitters were already working on the ground floor and heavy-load transports were moving through. An electric articulated telescopic boom lift was scheduled from the rental fleet. Using its articulating arm, it worked around the suspended lighting trusses, operated emission-free directly beneath the hall ceiling, and enabled precise fixing of the banners without disrupting the stand assembly running in parallel.

Working at height is safety work. In Germany, the commercial use of aerial work platforms is governed by the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV), DGUV Rule 100-500 (Operation of Work Equipment) and DGUV Principle 308-008 for operator instruction. In addition, an annual inspection under DIN EN 280 by a competent person is required.

For outdoor use, wind load is one of the most common reasons for downtime. Every data sheet states the maximum permissible wind speed (typically 12.5 m/s for self-propelled machines used outdoors). If this is exceeded, the platform must be lowered and secured – a detail that is explicitly covered during the handover briefing.
