Rent Aerial Work Platforms in Hannover – Safely to New Heights
Working at height in Hannover rarely means standard requirements. In the exhibition halls at Hannover's Messegelände, the set-up has to be complete in under 24 hours; at the Continental plant in Stöcken, maintenance runs alongside ongoing shift operations; and in the Gründerzeit-era city centre, access width and noise levels determine the right choice of platform.
Luibl delivers the right aerial work platform directly to Hannover and the surrounding Lower Saxony region. The rental fleet covers working heights from 6 m to 57 m, with models from leading manufacturers such as Genie, JLG, Haulotte, Manitou, Magni, HAB, PB and Holland Lift. Our own low-loaders ensure delivery via the A2 and A7 – even for time-critical logistics at the exhibition centre.
The Right Platform for Your Project in the Hannover Region
Which platform suits which situation depends on four factors: working height and outreach, platform load capacity, ground conditions on site, and whether emission-free operation is required. The following categories cover the majority of enquiries from the greater Hannover area.
Scissor lifts for indoor and outdoor use
Scissor lifts are the standard solution for vertical work on level ground. They offer large platform areas, high load capacity and stable standing space for several people plus tools.
Available classes from the rental fleet:
-
Mini scissor lifts from 6 m: For example the Genie GS 1330 with electric drive – compact enough for narrow doorways, ideal for maintenance in office buildings, hotels and small warehouses.
-
Medium electric scissor lifts 10 to 14 m: The Genie GS 4069DC with a 14 m working height and 4.4 m² platform provides space for up to 4 people, is quickly ready for use via the diagnostic system, and operates emission-free.
-
Electric scissor lifts up to 23 m: The PB 225-12ES reaches a 23 m working height with a platform for up to 5 people – suitable for maintenance in taller halls, such as logistics centres along the Mittellandkanal.
-
High-bay scissor lifts: Specialist equipment with 22 m, 28 m and 33 m working heights. The HAB S320-12E reaches a working height of 32.43 m with a width of just 1.20 m – it fits through standard sectional doors and narrow high-bay aisles.
-
Rough-terrain diesel scissor lifts: Models such as the Holland Lift Megastar G320 handle unpaved terrain, gradients of up to 45%, and reach working heights of up to 34 m with load capacities of up to 1,000 kg. Used in shell construction, steel construction and on large construction sites around Hannover.
-
Heavy-duty scissor lifts: The Magni ES1823RT with an 18 m working height and 680 kg load capacity allows heavy tools and several fitters to be carried.
All electric models operate emission-free and with non-marking tyres – relevant for exhibition stand construction in Hannover's halls as well as for maintenance work in the region's food industry.
Telescopic and articulated boom lifts for maximum flexibility
As soon as work needs to be carried out over obstacles – for example maintenance above existing installations or façade work involving overhanging components – telescopic and articulated telescopic boom lifts are the equipment of choice.
Key classes for Hannover:
-
Telescopic boom lifts: Working heights of up to 58 m with a large outreach – used for industrial chimneys, warehouse roofs and bridge inspections along the Mittellandkanal.
-
Articulated telescopic boom lifts: An articulating arm to get around obstructing structures – ideal in industrial halls such as the VW commercial vehicle plants in Stöcken/Limmer, where machinery, crane systems or ventilation ducts need to be bypassed.
-
Diesel models with four-wheel drive and oscillating axle: Standard in the rough-terrain segment, necessary on unpaved construction sites around Hannover.
-
Bi-energy and hybrid models: Diesel for travelling to site, electric for emission-free operation indoors – useful for projects that switch between indoor and outdoor areas.
Brand choice in the telescopic segment: Genie, JLG, Haulotte, Niftylift, Manitou. For the boom basket, load capacity (typically 230 to 450 kg), outreach and basket rotation capability are the decisive selection criteria.
Truck-mounted and trailer-mounted platforms for quick relocation
Truck-mounted aerial work platforms can be driven between multiple work sites by the hirer themselves. For tree care within the city, advertising sign maintenance, lighting work and roof renovations in List, Linden or Südstadt, this is a considerable advantage.
-
Truck-mounted platforms with basket heights from 14 m to 50 m: Manufacturers such as Ruthmann, Palfinger and CTE in the rental fleet.
-
Driving licence: Category B (up to 3.5 t) or C1/C (over 3.5 t), depending on vehicle weight.
-
Trailer-mounted platforms: Can be transported with a standard car and tow hitch (B96/BE). Suitable for trade businesses and smaller maintenance jobs without a truck in the fleet.
In Hannover's city centre, a truck-mounted platform often removes the need to apply for a no-parking zone for a self-propelled machine – in use during the day, back at the yard in the evening.
Track-mounted and mast lifts for special applications
Track-mounted aerial work platforms are used where wheeled machines fail: soft ground, gravel, gradients over 50%, and tight courtyard entrances in older buildings. They are the right choice for landscaping work in Hannover's urban forests or for renovation projects with restricted access. Mast lifts with compact dimensions and vertical lift are the solution for interior fit-out and very confined spaces.
Your Exhibition Specialist: Aerial Work Platform Hire for the Hannover Exhibition Centre
The Hannover exhibition centre is one of the largest in the world – with HANNOVER MESSE, IAA Transportation, agritechnica and Domotex, the build-up and breakdown phases rank among the most demanding logistics windows in Europe. What's needed here: reliability, speed and machines that operate emission-free indoors.
What Luibl provides for exhibitors and stand builders:
-
Delivery direct to the hall or outdoor stand: We coordinate gate slots with the stand builder and Deutsche Messe AG, with delivery possible in the early morning hours too.
-
Emission-free machines for indoor use: Electric scissor lifts from 6 m to 23 m, electric articulated boom lifts for banner installation, high-bay scissor lifts for overhead installation in the tall halls.
-
Fast build-up and breakdown slots: Vehicles can be scheduled at short notice; for major events we work with stand-by machines on site.
-
Collection at the end of the event: Coordinated with the breakdown slots so the stand is cleared on time for the next build-up.
Case in point: During the build-up of an industrial trade fair, banner advertising had to be mounted at around 15 m height on the hall ceiling of a hall in Laatzen – while stand fitters were already working on the ground floor and heavy-load transports were moving through. An electric articulated telescopic boom lift was scheduled from the rental fleet. Using its articulating arm, it worked around the suspended lighting trusses, operated emission-free directly beneath the hall ceiling, and enabled precise fixing of the banners without disrupting the stand assembly running in parallel.
Safety and Service When Renting in Lower Saxony
Working at height is safety work. In Germany, the commercial use of aerial work platforms is governed by the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV), DGUV Rule 100-500 (Operation of Work Equipment) and DGUV Principle 308-008 for operator instruction. In addition, an annual inspection under DIN EN 280 by a competent person is required.
What Luibl takes care of for you:
-
Safety inspection: Every rental machine undergoes a functional check before delivery; annual safety inspection by independent experts.
-
Young fleet: Annual investment in new equipment keeps the rental fleet technically up to date – reducing the risk of breakdowns and ensuring the availability of modern features such as diagnostic systems and intuitive controls.
-
Technical data sheets and load charts: Provided with the machine to support your risk assessment, which is the employer's responsibility under BetrSichV.
-
Handover briefing: Detailed instruction from our delivery staff – including guidance on wind-load limits, platform load capacity and personal fall-arrest protection (PSAgA).
-
Operator training: Certified training under IPAF (PAL Card) and DGUV Principle 308-008. Attendance is a prerequisite for operating any aerial work platform.
-
Mobile service: In the event of a technical fault, we repair on site wherever possible; if that isn't practical, the machine is replaced promptly.
For outdoor use, wind load is one of the most common reasons for downtime. Every data sheet states the maximum permissible wind speed (typically 12.5 m/s for self-propelled machines used outdoors). If this is exceeded, the platform must be lowered and secured – a detail that is explicitly covered during the handover briefing.
