Articulated boom lifts – whether electric or diesel – come into their own not just when a certain height needs to be reached, but also when lateral obstacles need to be cleared. The articulating joint in the boom allows it to reach over machine parts, pipework or roof edges without repositioning the machine. For projects involving several machines or a hire period of several weeks, long-term hire is recommended: cheaper than the cumulative daily rate, and on request including statutory inspection and servicing during the hire period. Ad hoc requirements – for example if a machine breaks down or a project suddenly needs an additional equipment class – are dealt with quickly, subject to availability.

Inspection requirements and documentation

Every Luibl hire machine undergoes a functional check after each use. The annual statutory inspection (UVV) under BetrSichV (Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health) is carried out by independent experts. The valid inspection certificate is provided on handover. For long-term hires that extend beyond the annual interval, Luibl arranges the follow-up inspection during the ongoing hire period.

All types of forklift are subject to DGUV Regulation 68 (Industrial Trucks), which sets out clear requirements for inspection intervals, operator authorisation and maintenance. The employer hiring the equipment is responsible for its proper operation on site – Luibl provides all the necessary technical documentation and data sheets for this.

For work platforms, DGUV Rule 100-500 (Chapter 2.10) governs operation and instruction. The so-called operator authorisation for mobile elevating work platforms is not a statutory licence, but the employer's demonstrable appointment and instruction of the operator is mandatory under DGUV Principle 308-008. Machine breakdown insurance and liability

On handover of a hire machine, the hirer assumes duty of care for the duration of the hire period. For damage not attributable to normal wear and tear, taking out machine breakdown insurance is recommended. Luibl explains the applicable liability terms transparently as part of the terms and conditions before the contract is concluded. Questions about insurance excesses or fuel billing are answered in conversation before booking – not only after handover.
