Rent an Electric Scissor Lift – Emission-Free Height Access from 6 to 33 m
Electric scissor lifts are the standard solution for indoor working-at-height tasks. Their battery-powered drive produces no exhaust fumes, no sparking and no significant noise – characteristics that are not optional but mandatory in running production halls, logistics centres and sensitive cleanroom environments.
In the rental fleet of Luibl Rental & Sales you will find electric scissor lifts with 6.30 m to 33.00 m working height, load capacities from 227 kg to 1,000 kg and widths from 0.76 m. Delivery is carried out Europe-wide from more than 200 locations using our own low-loader fleet – on the exact day construction begins.
What is an electric scissor lift?
An electric scissor lift (also known as an electric scissor work platform, scissor lift or battery-powered platform) raises people and material vertically. The name derives from the X-shaped interlocking scissor frame that supports the platform. Unlike articulated or telescopic boom lifts, the platform can only travel vertically – which makes the construction more compact, more stable and better suited to confined indoor areas.
The drive runs on low-maintenance lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries. Non-marking tyres prevent scuff marks on epoxy resin and industrial floors. All units in the Luibl rental fleet are inspected in accordance with DGUV Regulation 68/69 accident-prevention regulations (UVV) and checked for charge level, hydraulics and emergency-stop function before delivery.
Electric or diesel – which scissor lift is right for your project?
| Criterion | Electric scissor lift | Diesel scissor lift |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Indoors, paved outdoor areas | Construction sites, unpaved terrain |
| Emissions | none (emission-free) | diesel/soot emissions |
| Noise level | very quiet | loud |
| Floor marking | non-marking tyres | standard tyres |
| Width | from 0.76 m (compact models) | larger, heavier |
| Suitability for outdoor terrain | paved surfaces only | yes, including unpaved |
For shell-construction sites without a paved surface, diesel scissor lifts are the technically correct choice. For everything that takes place in halls, warehouses or on concreted areas, the electric variant is the safer, cleaner and quieter solution.
Technical parameters: how to choose the right model
Determining the correct working height
The actual working height is always around 2 m above the platform height (a person's reach from the guardrail). A scissor lift with a 10 m platform height allows work up to approx. 12 m in height.
Calculating load capacity realistically
Rule of thumb per DGUV guideline value: number of persons × 100 kg + tool weight + material weight per work cycle = minimum rated load. DIN EN 280 prohibits any excess of this limit. The integrated overload protection automatically blocks lifting.
Checking width and clearance height
| Tight spot | Clear width | Recommended machine width |
|---|---|---|
| DIN standard door (18100) | 0.875 m | ≤ 0.77 m |
| Fire door (T30/T90) | varies | measure clear dimensions in advance |
| Goods lift | check cabin depth | note the machine's own weight |
Compact models such as the Genie GS 1432m E-Drive (6.30 m working height, 0.77 m width, 885 kg net weight) pass through standard interior doors without any modifications.
Typical applications for electric scissor work platforms
- Installing LED lighting, ventilation ducts and sprinkler systems in running production halls
- Electrical installation, cable trays and transformer systems in logistics centres
- Drywall construction, facade cladding and exhibition stand construction indoors
- Maintenance and inspection of conveyor technology and racking structures in high-bay warehouses
- Maintenance in automotive, pharmaceutical and food-processing plants
For maintenance work in high-bay warehouses with aisle widths under 1.50 m, specialised narrow-aisle scissor lifts (HAB S280, HAB S320, Holland Lift HL330) are available with working heights of up to 33 m.
Who may operate an electric scissor lift?
Operating personnel must be instructed in accordance with BetrSichV § 12 (German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health) and DGUV Grundsatz 308-008. Documented instruction by a competent person is mandatory. Before every start-up, DGUV Regel 100-500 requires a visual and functional inspection.
Luibl supplies exclusively units inspected under the accident-prevention regulations (UVV), with complete inspection documentation.
Rental period and process
Electric scissor lifts are rented by the day, by the week or for longer construction projects. Delivery and collection are carried out using our own low-loader fleet from more than 200 locations throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries.
