The Genie XC versions take 454 kg in the platform, the standard models 227 kg. When two fitters go up with valves, insulation material or a welding unit during an overhaul, this reserve often decides the model.

Clarify plant approval and hazardous areas before use

Each plant decides for itself which machines may enter the site: registration at the plant gate, safety briefing, work permit. Whether a telescopic boom lift may be used in a potentially explosive area is decided by the plant operator. Halls and enclosed plant sections: electric or hybrid

For work in halls and technical buildings, there are three electric telescopic boom lifts that are locally emission-free in operation: the Zoomlion ZT18JE-Li with 20.60 m, the Zoomlion ZT21JE-Li with 22.95 m and the Zoomlion ZT26JE with 28.70 m working height. The Genie S-60 FE with hybrid drive reaches 20.60 m. The other 22 models run on diesel and are intended for outdoor use.

Schedule shutdowns early

The old town lies tightly between the Salzach and the castle hill, and above it the castle complex stretches for around 1,051 m along the ridge. Set-up areas are scarce, and many buildings are listed.

Stadtplatz and In den Grueben: facades over pavement and projections

The colourful rows of houses on the Stadtplatz and in the lane In den Grueben stand close together. The telescopic boom lift stands on the carriageway and reaches over the pavement and projections to the facade with its boom. For three- to four-storey houses, the 20 to 23 m class is usually sufficient, for example the Genie S-65. To set up on public land, you need a special use permit and a traffic management order from the town of Burghausen.

Castle complex and castle slope: factor in the difference in height

At the castle, walls and towers stand on the edge of the slope, so the set-up position and working point are often on different levels. Include this difference in height in the working height you need. If the boom has to reach far over the slope, the 25 to 29 m class with 19.70 to 23.32 m horizontal outreach helps, for example the Haulotte H28TJ Plus. Agree work on listed monuments in advance with the owner and the monument protection authority and pass the conditions on to us.

New town and commercial areas: halls and low-rise buildings

On the upper terrace above the old town lie the new town, residential complexes and commercial areas with halls and flat roofs. For roof edges, skylights and signage, 14 to 16 m working height is often enough here, for example with the Haulotte H14TX.

A telescopic boom lift transfers its entire weight through the wheels into the ground. Therefore, clarify before ordering what the set-up position can carry. The Haulotte H14TX weighs 5,900 kg, the Genie SX-180 24,856 kg, and all models from 40 m working height are over 20 t.

• Plant roads and plant areas: usually paved, but with shafts, covers and pipes underground. Ask the plant for the permissible surface load.

• Salzach banks and floodplains: On soft ground, load distribution plates spread the weight. Plan for them in advance.

• Paving in the old town: Under old houses and lanes there are often cellars and cavities. Clarify the bearing capacity with the owner or the town.

• Slopes: The platform may only be driven and extended within the inclination permitted by the manufacturer in the operating manual.

From Passau it is around 95 km via Pocking, Simbach am Inn and Marktl to Burghausen. The heavier the machine, the more planning the transport needs. Job site in Burghausen: ArbSchG, BetrSichV and DGUV

Under Section 12 of the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) and Section 12 of the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV), the employer instructs employees before use.
