Rent work platforms & construction machinery in Freyung – Luibl rental fleet

Freyung lies in the heart of the Freyung-Grafenau district – a region that confronts site managers and tradespeople with challenges that simply do not arise on flat Bavarian construction sites. Steep hillsides, wooded access routes, seasonally changing ground conditions between wet autumn soil and frozen winter ground: anyone hiring a work platform or a telehandler here does not need a standard machine for the level industrial estate. They need all-wheel drive, sufficient gradeability, suitable tyres for soft ground – and, in extreme cases, a tracked work platform that still works where every wheeled machine gets stuck.

Luibl Rental & Sales delivers from Passau throughout the entire Freyung-Grafenau district. Our own low-loader fleet is designed for mountain routes and narrow access roads in the Bavarian Forest – with no dependence on external hauliers, with direct scheduling coordination and a single point of contact for all equipment categories. All rental machines are UVV-inspected in accordance with BetrSichV and are handed over in accordance with DGUV Rule 100-500 and DGUV Regulation 68.

Telehandlers, forklifts and lifting platforms for use in the Bavarian Forest

The delivery area covers Freyung and the surrounding municipalities: Grafenau, Waldkirchen, Schönberg, Perlesreut, Röhrnbach, Jandelsbrunn and the entire Freyung-Grafenau district.

  • Work platforms – scissor, articulating and telescopic boom lifts, mast lifts and tracked work platforms

  • Telehandlers – fixed and rotating, electric and diesel

  • Forklifts – counterbalance forklifts, rough-terrain forklifts, heavy-duty forklifts

  • Construction machinery – crawler excavators, wheel loaders and other earthmoving equipment

What sets the Bavarian Forest apart from other rental regions is not the equipment portfolio – that is the same as for a construction site in Munich or Hamburg. The difference lies in selecting the right equipment for the specific site. A telehandler with two-wheel drive that works without problem on a paved company site fails on a forest track with a 20 % longitudinal gradient and wet ground. Luibl helps with the technical pre-selection: tell us the gradient, ground conditions and planned load – we will recommend the machine that works safely there.

Fixed and roto telehandlers: maximum off-road capability for rough sites

Fixed telehandlers with all-wheel drive and oscillating axles are the backbone of construction logistics on unpaved ground. In the Bavarian Forest that means: gravel tracks to the site, sloping set-up ground, frost in the soil that has thawed by midday, or clay ground after rain. Models with differential locks maintain traction even when individual wheels spin on loose ground.

The load capacity of a telehandler indicates the maximum load at the smallest boom angle – this figure is often misleading for off-road use, because in practice the reach is rarely minimal. The load chart of the respective model shows the exact residual load capacity for every combination of lifting height and horizontal reach. For installing heavy roof beams or wall elements on hillside buildings around Freyung, this is decisive – Luibl provides the original manufacturer's chart for every machine.

Roto telehandlers have a concrete advantage over fixed models on hillside sites: the rotating superstructure allows the load to be operated from a single position, without having to reposition the machine several times on the sloping ground. Magni RTH and Manitou MRT models also have extendable outriggers (scissor stabilisers) that create a stable base even on uneven surfaces. For projects with high load capacities, the Luibl rental fleet offers the Manitou MHT 10200 with a maximum load capacity of 20,000 kg – at the corresponding reach according to the load chart.

Available brands from the Luibl rental fleet (selection):

  • Manitou MT series (fixed) and MRT series (roto)

  • Magni TH and RTH series

  • Merlo P series

Scissor lifts & articulating boom lifts for work at height and façade work

For work at height around Freyung and the surrounding uplands, two equipment families are available whose selection depends largely on the terrain.

Diesel scissor lifts with all-wheel drive and oscillating axle are the off-road-capable solution for outdoor operations on sloping surfaces. The oscillating axle compensates for cross gradients without the platform tipping. For façade work on hillside plots in the Freyung urban area, roof refurbishment on sloping sites or maintenance work on infrastructure facilities in the forest area, diesel scissor lifts provide a stable working platform even where an electric indoor lift simply cannot be used.

Articulating boom lifts with all-wheel drive are used when great heights and lateral reaches are required at the same time, for example when working over roof overhangs, tree crowns or machine housings. The articulation joint in the boom allows obstacles to be reached over without repositioning the entire machine – an advantage on sites where manoeuvring space is restricted by trees, embankments or building projections.

For emission-free indoor work – for example in forestry operation halls, agricultural warehouses or commercial properties in the Freyung urban area – electric articulating boom lifts with non-marking tyres are available.

Technical key data for the equipment classes (examples):

Electric scissor lifts (indoor)

  • Working height: 6 m to 16 m

  • Platform load: up to 450 kg

  • Drive: battery, emission-free

  • Tyres: non-marking

Diesel scissor lifts (outdoor / terrain)

  • Working height: 10 m to 34 m

  • Platform load: up to 1,000 kg

  • Drive: diesel 4x4, oscillating axle

  • Gradeability: up to 40 %

Electric articulating boom lifts (indoor/hybrid)

  • Working height: 11 m to 28 m

  • Lateral reach: up to approx. 16 m

  • Drive: electric or bi-energy

  • Tyres: non-marking

Diesel articulating boom lifts (outdoor / all-wheel)

  • Working height: 16 m to 43 m

  • Lateral reach: up to approx. 24 m

  • Drive: diesel 4x4

  • Gradeability: up to 45 %

Tracked work platforms: the fallback solution for extreme terrain

For operations that are too demanding even for all-wheel machines with an oscillating axle, Luibl carries tracked work platforms (crawler lifts) in the rental fleet. These machines climb gradients of over 50 % and work on soft ground that is impassable for wheeled machines: wet forest floor, softened clay areas, spoil heaps or hillsides after heavy rain.

Tracked work platforms are typically used in the Freyung-Grafenau area for:

  • Tree care and forestry work on unpaved woodland

  • Roof refurbishment on hillside plots with steep access

  • Façade work on historic buildings in steep locations

  • Inspection and maintenance work on retaining walls, embankments or bridge substructures

The availability of tracked work platforms is lower than for wheeled machines – for projects in demanding terrain, early enquiry and reservation are recommended.

Industrial and rough-terrain forklifts for material handling in Freyung

For businesses in the Freyung urban area and the adjacent commercial zones, counterbalance forklifts are available in electric, gas and diesel versions. Outdoors – on forestry sites, at carpentry workshops, sawmills or agricultural operations in the surrounding area – rough-terrain forklifts with all-wheel drive are the technically robust choice. Coarse-treaded tyres prevent spinning on damp ground, and the increased ground clearance protects the machine from damage by stones and roots.

For heavy individual loads – prefabricated-element assembly, structural steelwork or the transport of forestry machine components – heavy-duty forklifts with load capacities of up to 16 tonnes are available. The load capacity figure applies at minimum load distance and horizontal set-up; on sloping ground, the permissible load is reduced in accordance with the load chart. Luibl provides the original data sheet for every machine booked.

Transport logistics via the B12: punctual machine provision in the district

The route from Passau to Freyung runs via the B12 towards Waldkirchen, then on via the B533 to Freyung – around 60 kilometres with winding sections that, especially in the mountain stretch from Waldkirchen towards Freyung, require attention for wide low-loader transports. Luibl coordinates the transport route according to the selected machine: narrow machines on compact flatbed trucks, large machines on articulated low-loaders with an appropriately planned route.

One aspect that many clients underestimate: transport costs in the Bavarian Forest can be higher than for comparable projects in the lowlands due to additional route kilometres, mountain-route surcharges or necessary escort vehicles. Luibl itemises all costs in the quote fully and separately – no flat rates that only become concrete on the invoice. For a reliable calculation, it is important to provide the exact delivery address and the on-site access conditions.

Anyone who needs several machines for a construction site or plans a rental period of several weeks would sensibly choose long-term hire. The rental period largely determines the daily rate: from one week onwards, the cost per day drops significantly. Long-term rentals include, on request, the UVV inspection and ongoing maintenance of the machines – the most economical option for longer construction projects in the Freyung-Grafenau district.

Safety & legal matters: UVV-compliant rental machines and technical instruction

Inspection obligation and safety certificates

All Luibl rental machines are functionally inspected after every use. The annual UVV inspection in accordance with BetrSichV by independent experts is obligatory for all machines; the inspection certificate is available at handover. For forklifts, DGUV Regulation 68 (industrial trucks) additionally applies, with clear requirements for inspection intervals and operating qualifications.

For work platforms, DGUV Rule 100-500 (Chapter 2.10) governs operation and instruction. The operator's licence for mobile elevating work platforms is not a statutory driving licence, but the demonstrable instruction and authorisation of the machine operator by the employer is mandatory under DGUV Principle 308-008. In practice, the IPAF PAL Card counts as recognised proof. Luibl can arrange suitable training partners on request.

For self-propelled work platforms on enclosed construction sites, no vehicle driving licence is required – but operator training is. For truck-mounted work platforms, the required driving licence depends on the gross weight: class B up to 3.5 t, class C1 or C above that.

Machine breakage insurance and liability terms

Luibl rental machines are insured as standard; in the event of damage, an excess remains, which is stated in the rental contract. Optionally, Luibl offers a limitation of liability. For operations in the rough outdoor terrain of the Bavarian Forest – where rockfall, breaking branches or unexpected ground subsidence are not theoretical risks – a clarifying consultation on liability arrangements before concluding the contract is recommended. What happens within the scope of normal machine use in the field and what counts as negligence is governed by the terms and conditions and is explained before handover. Machine breakage insurance and liability limitations are not add-on products that you only discover on the invoice – they are discussed during the consultation.

Rental checklist for access at height in the uplands

Before using a rented machine in the Freyung area, we recommend the following steps:

  • Complete the handover protocol together with the Luibl driver and record any existing prior damage

  • Check the ground conditions at the set-up location: load-bearing capacity, frost depth, water saturation; for soft ground, plan for spreader mats

  • Measure the gradient of the access route and the set-up area – compare with the target value of the selected machine (gradeability in %, not in degrees)

  • Check the clearance height along the route – including on forest tracks with low-hanging branches

  • Have the operator's licence / proof of instruction ready for all machine operators

  • Display the technical data sheet and load chart on the machine before starting work (obligatory under BetrSichV)

  • For tracked work platforms: check the return-transport route in advance for sufficient width and load-bearing capacity

Request a technical load chart & check availability for Freyung without obligation

Briefly describe your project: which machine you need, what the terrain is like (gradient, ground, access), the planned rental period and whether there are special requirements such as hillside locations or tracked chassis. Luibl checks availability, selects the technically suitable machine and prepares a complete quote with itemised transport costs.
