Rent construction machinery in Hamburg – rental fleet for professionals under deadline pressure

Hamburg is building. Residential quarters in Altona, infrastructure in HafenCity, commercial buildings in Harburg, canal works in Wandsbek – all at once, with tight deadlines and limited space. Anyone who loses time on this construction site loses money. Luibl supplies construction machinery that keeps your deadline: excavators, work platforms and telehandlers, UVV-tested, delivered directly to your construction site with our own low-loader fleet.

The rental programme ranges from mini excavators from 1.8 tonnes up to the 30-tonne crawler excavator, rotating telehandlers with lifting heights of up to 39 m and work platforms with a working height of up to 58 m. Short-term hire for one-off jobs, long-term hire including maintenance and UVV inspection for ongoing projects.

The right construction machine for every Hamburg project

Telehandlers & rotating telehandlers – flexibility for the port and building construction

Rigid telehandlers from Manitou and Merlo are the workhorse on large Hamburg construction sites: fast material logistics, high load capacities, robust on unpaved terrain. Anyone working in cramped backyards in Altona or on façade renovations in the Wilhelminian-era building stock needs more precision. Rotating telehandlers with a slewing upper carriage reach sideways where rigid machines cannot – without laborious repositioning.

Available models in the rental fleet (selection):

  • Rigid telehandlers Merlo / Manitou: lifting heights up to 19 m, load capacity up to 4,000 kg, with all-wheel drive

  • Rotating telehandlers Manitou MRT 2260: lifting height 21.80 m, load capacity 6,000 kg, lateral reach 18.20 m, diesel

  • Attachments on request: personnel basket (use as a lifting platform), cable winch, fork tines, bucket

Important for Hamburg tunnel restrictions and the port area: Luibl coordinates transport routes and delivery windows. Night-time delivery during closures in the city centre is possible on request.

Work platforms – safely up to height for façade work in Altona

Hamburg's stock of Wilhelminian-era façades, industrial halls and port buildings places special demands on height-access technology. Narrow alleys, historic ground, heavy subsoil – not every platform fits. Luibl rents out the full range:

  • Scissor lifts (electric): for indoor work in logistics and factory halls, up to 14 m working height, zero emissions

  • All-terrain scissor lifts (diesel): for outdoor facilities and uneven terrain, up to 14 m, load capacity up to 1,000 kg

  • Telescopic and articulated telescopic boom lifts: working heights up to 58 m, lateral reach up to 24 m – for building construction and bridge inspections

  • Tracked work platforms (crawlers): climbing ability over 50%, can also be used on soft ground and in gardens

  • Vertical mast lifts: compact, quiet, ideal for indoor spaces with load-bearing restrictions (observe DGUV Regulation 68)

All work platforms in the rental fleet are tested in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-008 / 308-009 and comply with DIN EN 280. Machine documents and test certificates are handed over during the instruction. IPAF-trained operators can be requalified via Luibl training courses on request.

Excavators – earthmoving for civil engineering, canal construction and landscaping

Luibl's excavator programme covers all common requirements in the Hamburg area – from the single-family-home garden to excavation for underground car parks in HafenCity.

  • Yanmar SV18 (1.8 t): adjustable undercarriage, can be narrowed to under 1 m, digging depth 2.40 m – fits through any gateway

  • Bobcat E35 (3.5 t) / E50 (5 t): Stage V compliant, precise control, well suited to cable-laying civil works and garden design

  • Bobcat E85 (8.5 t): breakout force 66,000 N, reach 6.92 m – foundation construction, canal works, terrain modelling

  • Doosan DX-140LC-5 (14 t): road and canal construction, e-EPOS hydraulic system, reduced fuel consumption in operation

  • Doosan DX-235LC-5 (23 t): reach 9.88 m, lifting height 9.56 m, for larger excavations and embankment work

  • Doosan DX-300LC-5 (30 t): reach 11.07 m, lifting height 10.41 m – bulk excavation, industrial demolition, large-scale projects

Stage V excavators are mandatory in many public tenders in Hamburg as well as in environmental and water protection zones. All Bobcat compact excavators in the Luibl rental fleet meet this standard. The load diagram and the technical data sheets are provided with the quote on request.

Why Luibl – expertise in the Hamburg city area

Hamburg is not an easy logistics location. Elbe Tunnel restrictions for heavy transports, narrow access roads in the Speicherstadt, time windows for work in the port area, subsoil close to the groundwater table throughout the city area – anyone who rolls up here with an incorrectly configured machine loses hours. Luibl knows the conditions.

  • Own low-loader fleet: No third-party carrier. Luibl coordinates departure time, route and delivery window directly.

  • Over 200 locations nationwide: short distances, fast response for machine changes or short-notice additional requirements.

  • Just-in-time delivery: machine provision timed to the start of construction – no downtime, no storage charges.

  • UVV inspection in accordance with DGUV regulations: all machines are inspected in accordance with BetrSichV. Test protocols are included.

  • On-site technical service: a fitter can be requested during the rental period. Minimal response time.

  • Training courses: machine operation, IPAF preparation and device-specific instructions can be booked on request.

For large-scale projects with several machines, Luibl draws up individual combined offers – one point of contact, one contract, coordinated delivery of all equipment. Relevant for general contractors, automotive plants and industrial companies that need several machine types on one construction site at the same time.

Your route to the rental machine – fast, direct, no detours

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions About Construction Equipment Rental in Hamburg

chevronDown

Is there training for excavator operators or platform operators in Hamburg?

Yes. Luibl offers equipment-specific instruction and advanced training. IPAF training for aerial work platforms can be coordinated through Luibl. Particularly for companies deploying certain machine types for the first time, qualified instruction is mandatory under DGUV Regulation 68.

Can I hire a construction machine at short notice in Hamburg?

Many machines are available at short notice. Enquire via the contact form – Luibl checks availability and gets back to you quickly. For urgent requests, a direct call is advisable: +49 (0) 851 756868-0.

How much does it cost to hire construction equipment in Hamburg?

The rental price depends on machine type, duration of use and delivery location. Daily rates for mini excavators start in the low three-digit range, while heavy tracked excavators or rotating telehandlers are quoted individually. Luibl provides a transparent quote on request – with no base fees hidden in the small print. Long-term hire over several weeks or months is available on more attractive terms.

Is the construction machine delivered directly to the site in Hamburg?

Yes. Luibl delivers directly to your site using our own fleet of low-loaders – to HafenCity, Altona, Harburg, Bergedorf, Norderstedt or further afield. Collection is available as an alternative. For special transports involving oversized loads or fixed time windows, Luibl coordinates the necessary permits.

What insurance is included with the hire?

Luibl machines carry third-party liability insurance. We recommend the hirer take out their own damage waiver cover for the machine, which can be arranged separately through Luibl. At handover, all documents are provided – inspection certificates, statutory safety inspection records and handover documentation.

Is the construction equipment approved for public tenders in Hamburg?

Stage V-compliant machines (Bobcat E50, E85 and others) meet current emissions requirements for public contracts and projects within Hamburg's low-emission zones. The relevant declarations of conformity are provided on request.
