Rental Process and Logistics: How the Platform Reaches Your Site
The process in four steps:
Enquiry via the online form or by phone. Three details are enough for an initial proposal: the job site in Lübeck, the rental period, and the desired working height or specific task. Anyone who describes the task rather than just naming a model often gets a better-suited machine — for example, an articulated boom lift instead of a telescopic boom lift, because the horizontal outreach specified in the data sheet is what the task actually requires.
Quote with transparent terms. Rental price, delivery fee, optional machine breakdown insurance, any final cleaning charge — all set out in writing before the contract is signed. No hidden items after return.
Delivery with our own low-loader. Luibl operates its own specialist vehicles. This removes the typical delays caused by third-party hauliers — especially important for deliveries subject to access-restriction hours in the old town or for time-critical industrial shutdowns.
Handover with a report. Operating hours, battery charge level for electric units, visible condition, accessories — all documented. The same report is used on return. This avoids disputes over pre-existing damage.

Safety, Standards and Operator Qualification
Mobile elevating work platforms are subject to strict regulation. Three points must be clarified before every rental:
On the equipment side. Every platform is UVV-inspected in accordance with the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV) and DGUV Regulation 1. The design standard is DIN EN 280. The annual inspection is documented by independent experts; for long-term rentals it is included in the terms.
On the operator side. Documented instruction is mandatory for self-propelled mobile elevating work platforms. The qualification follows DGUV Principle 308-008 (operating authorisation for mobile elevating work platforms). Internationally recognised is IPAF training with a PAL Card, which Luibl offers at various locations — both as an individual booking and as in-house training for entire teams.
On the operational side. The risk assessment at the job site is legally the responsibility of the operator's employer. Luibl provides technical data sheets, load charts, conformity documents and guidance on DGUV Rule 100-500 (Operation of Work Equipment, Chapter 2 on the operation of lifting equipment and mobile elevating work platforms) as a basis.
A daily pre-use inspection (visual and functional check) is mandatory and cannot be delegated — not even to the hire company.
Insurance and Limitation of Liability
Three issues that rental agreements regularly get stuck on:
Machine breakdown insurance. Available as an optional add-on, it reduces the excess payable in the event of damage. Terms depend on rental duration and equipment class — details are agreed in writing before the contract is signed.
Liability insurance. The hirer's public/product liability insurance must cover the use of rented equipment. Standard policies usually do so, but for special jobs (working at height over public roads) it's worth calling your own insurer.
Operator training as a liability factor. Missing or undocumented instruction can lead to the employer being held personally liable in the event of damage. IPAF or equivalent certificates should therefore be in place before the first use — not obtained afterwards.
