Telehandler rental in Passau: choose the type by set-up area
You can rent telehandlers in Passau from a rental fleet with 64 models, 4.30 to 38.90 m lift height and 1,250 to 33,000 kg load capacity. Construction in the city takes place on very different ground: in courtyards of the baroque old town, on residential building plots on slopes, on commercial sites and on large construction fields. Height alone therefore rarely decides which machine fits. More often, the space for chassis, outriggers and slewing movement is the bottleneck. That is why we classify the types according to the set-up area available to you. All machines for the city can be found on Construction machinery rental in Passau, the entire fleet in the category Telehandlers. We deliver the machines by low-loader from Passau.
Telehandler rental in Passau: the set-up area determines the type
First measure the area on which the machine is to stand and work. This determines the type; only then do lift height and load follow.
| Available set-up area | Type | Models | Lift height | Load capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Courtyard, lane, hall | Electric | 1 | 5.85 m | 2,500 kg |
| Residential building plot | rigid | 19 | 4.30–18.80 m | 1,250–5,500 kg |
| Commercial site with space for outriggers | Roto | 37 | 15.42–38.90 m | 4,000–8,000 kg |
| Large construction field or plant site | Heavy-duty | 7 | 9.40–11.92 m | 7,200–33,000 kg |
If the area is not sufficient for the desired type, a smaller class with a different set-up position often does the job. We discuss this with you on the basis of a site plan.
The set-up area includes more than the space under the wheels. Add the room for extended outriggers, the slewing range of the boom and a safety distance to buildings, power lines and traffic routes. The area where the load is set down or picked up should also be clear and level.
Courtyard and lane: compact telehandlers for Passau's old town
On the old town peninsula between the Danube and the Inn, courtyards and passageways are often narrow. The Manitou MT 625e with 3.83 × 1.81 × 1.92 m fits here. It lifts 2,500 kg to 5.85 m, reaches 3.40 m forward and works without exhaust fumes at the work site.
Measure the passageway beforehand
Check the width and height of the courtyard entrance as well as the load-bearing capacity of cellar ceilings or vaults. With an unladen weight of 4,800 kg the electric machine is light, but the load is added on top.
Limits of the compact machine
The lift height is not sufficient for roof trusses or upper floors. A larger machine must then stand outside the courtyard, for example in the lane with a special use permit from the city.
Work inside buildings
Because the MT 625e runs on electricity, it is also suitable for halls, underground car parks and ground floors under conversion. There, exhaust fumes and loud diesel noise are eliminated. Plan a power connection for charging and keep the travel routes free of cables and debris.
Residential building plot: rigid telehandlers in Passau
On a building plot with access and some open space, the rigid telehandler is the standard machine. The rigid models lift up to 18.80 m and up to 5,500 kg. The Merlo P 40.17 reaches 16.70 m, 12.50 m outreach and 4,000 kg at an unladen weight of 10,630 kg.
Slopes and stability
Many residential streets in Passau rise, especially on the slopes above the three river valleys. Building plots there are often terraced, and the level area is just enough for the chassis. Park the machine on a level, compacted surface and do not move loads across the slope. The permissible inclination is stated in the operating manual.
Reading the load chart
As the outreach increases, the load the machine can safely set down decreases. Therefore plan with the load chart for the specific height and distance, not with the figure from the model designation.
Bringing material to the scaffold
In residential construction, the rigid telehandler mainly sets down pallets of bricks, insulation or roof tiles on scaffold levels and floor slabs. Check whether the scaffold level is approved for the load, and keep the area under the suspended load clear. A fork carriage with side shift makes precise placement easier.
Commercial site: Roto telehandlers in Passau as a crane replacement
Where a commercial or storage site offers space for outriggers and slewing, a Roto telehandler often replaces the mobile crane. The superstructure slews without the chassis being moved.
Two parameters from the data sheet
The Magni RTH 6.39SH lifts up to 38.90 m, reaches 27.00 m and carries 6,000 kg. It measures 8.60 × 2.54 × 3.12 m and weighs 24,000 kg. The Merlo Roto 75.25 lifts 7,500 kg to 25.00 m at 19.50 m outreach and brings 28,000 kg onto the surface.
Outriggers and crane operation
The outriggers need firm ground and sufficient distance from trenches or embankments. For operation with a load hook or winch, the requirements for crane operation apply, including those for the driver's qualification.
Cordon off the slewing range of the superstructure so that no one gets caught between machine and building. On sites with ongoing storage or delivery traffic, a banksman who keeps an eye on load and surroundings at the same time helps.
Large construction field or plant: heavy-duty telehandlers in Passau
On extensive construction fields and plant sites, weight matters rather than height. The heavy-duty telehandlers lift 7,200 to 33,000 kg to 9.40 to 11.92 m. Seven models are available. They are suitable for steel components, precast concrete elements and heavy machinery that a forklift can no longer handle.
In Passau, bayernhafen operates port sites in Racklau and Schalding. On port and plant sites the rules of the respective operator apply; clarify access and registration in advance. If the construction field is close to the river, check the load-bearing capacity of the ground after a flood before the heavy machine drives onto it.
Centre of gravity of machine parts
Transformers, tanks or plant components rarely have their centre of gravity in the middle. Determine it before lifting, for example from the manufacturer's documentation. If it lies far forward on the forks, the safe load drops sharply.
Travel route on site
A loaded heavy-duty machine needs a compacted, level route without potholes. Avoid or cover manhole covers, shafts and freshly backfilled trenches. Define the route before the machine rolls in.
Attachments for telehandlers in Passau
With the right tool, a telehandler takes over the tasks of other machines. Available for rent are:
-
Bucket for bulk material, excavated soil and moving sand or gravel on the construction field
-
Work platform for people at height, for example at gutters or facades
-
Load hook for slung loads such as steel beams or reinforcement cages
-
Cable winch for lifting work with a rope when the load must hang freely
-
Lattice jib winch for greater outreach over obstacles
Not every attachment fits every model. The overview can be found under Attachments. If you only want to bring people to height, a self-contained lift is usually the better choice. For this, a telescopic boom lift is often the simpler solution.
Transport of the telehandlers from our Passau location
From our Passau location we take the telehandlers by low-loader directly to your construction site in the city area, whether Innstadt, Ilzstadt or old town. In the district we supply, among others, Vilshofen an der Donau, Hauzenberg, Ruhstorf an der Rott and Fuerstenzell.
Further destinations are Waldkirchen, Freyung, Grafenau and on the Austrian side Schaerding. Important for planning are the unloading area, turning space and possible bottlenecks on the last stretch. For large Roto and heavy-duty machines we additionally check bridges, clearance heights and weight restrictions along the route. More on this under Transports.
Obligations for telehandler drivers in Passau
Telehandlers fall under DGUV Vorschrift 68. According to § 7, they may only be driven by persons who are at least 18 years old, suitable and trained, and who have been commissioned in writing by the employer.
Training is based on DGUV Grundsatz 308-009. Level 1 covers rigid machines. Additional level 2a applies to Roto and crane operation, additional level 2b to the work platform. In addition, § 3 BetrSichV requires a risk assessment, and § 12 BetrSichV and § 12 ArbSchG require instruction.
If the driver switches from forks to hook or platform during the rental period, their training must include the corresponding additional level. On handover, we explain the operation and safety devices of the model. We will gladly put you in touch with a certified training provider; more under training via certified partners.
