For handling materials in warehouses, heavy-load transport on construction sites, or a short-notice stand-in forklift in production: Luibl Rental hires out forklifts in Aachen across all common classes – electric front forklifts, diesel front forklifts, gas forklifts, rough-terrain forklifts and heavy-duty forklifts with load capacities from 1.5 to 18 t. Delivered by our own low-loader fleet directly to your site in Aachen and the entire city region.
Forklift types in the Luibl rental fleet: from 1.5 to 18 tonnes
No two projects are alike – which is why the rental fleet covers several equipment classes:
Electric front forklifts are the first choice for warehouse operation and indoor use: locally emission-free, quiet, with non-marking tyres for sensitive floors. Ideal for logistics centres, production halls and food businesses in Würselen, Herzogenrath or the Avantis business park.
Diesel front forklifts provide the robustness for outdoor applications, construction sites and mixed use. For longer shifts on open ground, near the harbour, or on uneven terrain.
Gas forklifts offer the flexibility of fast cylinder-swap operation without long charging times – practical for deployments requiring shift work and short downtime.
Rough-terrain forklifts are designed for unpaved ground, gradients and construction use. The Manitou M30-4 model with 3,000 kg load capacity and 4×4 drive proves itself on construction sites in Stolberg, Alsdorf and the surrounding Aachen city region.
Heavy-duty forklifts up to 18 t – including the Kalmar DCG 160-12T with 16,000 kg load capacity – are designed for industry, steel trading and machinery handling, where standard classes reach their limits.
Selected models from the rental fleet:
| Model | Load capacity | Lift height | Drive |
|---|---|---|---|
| EP EFL352 | 3,500 kg | 4.80 m | Electric |
| EP EFL382X5 | 3,800 kg | 4.80 m | Electric |
| Manitou MI 35 D ST5 | 3,500 kg | 4.80 m | Diesel |

Areas of deployment in Aachen and the city region
The Aachen city region offers a broad spectrum of industrial and logistics structures – and correspondingly broad requirements for forklift classes and drive types.
Avantis and the border-region business park: In the German-Dutch Avantis business park, companies manufacture and research on both sides of the border. Warehouse operation, materials handling and dock loading here typically call for electric or gas forklifts.
Rothe Erde and Hüls industrial areas: In Aachen's industrial and commercial areas along Lagerhausstraße and in Hüls, diesel and gas front forklifts are in demand for outdoor logistics and loading-bay operation. Heavy-duty forklifts are used by machinery manufacturers and metalworking companies.
RWTH Aachen campus: Delivery traffic, laboratory relocations and construction site logistics across the campus areas represent typical short-term hires – often for 1 to 5 days, with demand for compact electric front forklifts.
Stolberg, Eschweiler, Alsdorf: In the manufacturing businesses of these municipalities, diesel front forklifts and rough-terrain forklifts are standard for outdoor storage, material delivery and production resupply.
Events and temporary logistics: Trade fairs and build-up/take-down work across the city region require electric forklifts with non-marking tyres, available at short notice, to protect hall and flooring surfaces.
Electric or diesel: the right drive type for your job
The choice of drive type determines suitability for use, environmental impact and operating costs:
Electric forklifts are suitable for all indoor deployments without exhaust emissions. Food production, pharmaceuticals and clean-room operations require locally emission-free technology. Thanks to lithium-ion technology, modern electric forklifts are also efficient in multi-shift operation.
Diesel forklifts are used outdoors – on construction sites, at outdoor storage areas, or in poorly ventilated areas with an exemption permit. Stage V engines meet current emissions standards and are often defined as a minimum standard in municipal tenders.
Gas forklifts offer the speed of cylinder-swap operation: changing a cylinder takes minutes rather than hours of charging – relevant for logistics-intensive operations with continuous warehouse movement volumes.
DGUV Regulation 68: safety obligations when operating forklifts
Employers who use forklifts in their operations carry clear obligations. In Germany, DGUV Regulation 68 (industrial trucks) governs the requirements for operation, qualification and inspection:
-
Authorisation to drive: Every operator must be authorised in writing by the employer. Minors and untrained persons must not operate forklifts.
-
Driver training: Proof of practical training on the equipment type used is mandatory. Forklift licences (e.g. to VDMA guidelines) are the industry-standard proof.
-
Statutory safety inspection: Under BetrSichV and DGUV Regulation 68, forklifts must be regularly inspected by a competent person. Luibl rental equipment is inspected before every delivery; inspection certification is included.
Luibl hands over every machine with a complete operating manual and a safety briefing from the delivery crew – including guidance on the load capacity chart, changes in centre of gravity with attachments, and handling on gradients.
Note: The DGUV obligations for forklifts differ from those for aerial work platforms (DGUV 308-009). Where machines of different types are used together on one site, we recommend keeping the briefing records organised by equipment type.
Attachments: more flexibility for your project
A forklift's range of application can be significantly extended with attachments:
-
Side shifters: Precise load positioning without manoeuvring – relevant in narrow racking aisles and warehouse forecourts.
-
Fork positioners: Hydraulic adjustment of fork width to different pallet formats.
-
Load arms and crane hooks: Turn the forklift into a lifting device for hanging loads and pipe stock.
-
Double pallet handlers: Double the handling output per trip – useful in high-frequency logistics areas.
Please state the availability and compatibility of attachments with your desired model when making your enquiry.
