22 of the 26 telescopic boom lifts run on diesel, three on electric drive and one as a hybrid. Depending on the model, the platform capacity ranges from 227 to 454 kg. All models can be found in the Telescopic Boom Lifts category.

The industrial estate in the west of Ergolding is directly connected to Landshut-Nord. Part of the BMW plant site is located here, alongside medium-sized industrial companies. For telescopic boom lifts this means: the site operator decides when, where and with which drive work may be carried out.

Inside the hall: electric or hybrid instead of diesel

In enclosed halls, use one of the three electric models. The Zoomlion ZT18JE-Li reaches 20.60 m working height, the ZT21JE-Li 22.95 m and the ZT26JE 28.70 m. They work without exhaust at the place of use. If the job alternates between hall and yard, the Genie S-60 FE with hybrid drive and 20.60 m is the right choice. Clarify the door width, the load capacity of the hall floor and a charging point with the operator in advance. The ZT26JE weighs 17,600 kg, the ZT18JE-Li 8,600 kg.

On the plant site: register before delivery

Plant sites have their own access and safety rules. Register the delivery, machine type, dimensions and weight with the operator before the low-loader sets off. The operator often requires its own site induction or a permit for work at height.

On the facade: outreach over ramps and canopies

Outside the halls, loading ramps, canopies and parked lorries stand between the set-up position and the work area. Horizontal outreach is what counts here: the Genie S-85 reaches 23.32 m, the S-85XC 22.71 m with 454 kg platform capacity. This lets you install facade panels or signage without the platform having to stand on the ramp.

South of the A 92 the terrain is flat, but the streets in the town centre and residential areas are often narrow. For work on gables, gutters or trees, the smaller models are usually sufficient. The Haulotte H14TX reaches 14.00 m at 5,900 kg, the Genie S-45 15.72 m at 7,005 kg and the S-45XC 15.56 m with 454 kg platform capacity.

Set-up on public ground

If the telescopic boom lift stands on a pavement or carriageway, you need a special use permit. For municipal roads the market town of Ergolding is responsible, for federal and state roads the relevant road authority. Plan the barriers as well. City bus lines 2 and 12 run through Ergolding, so bus stops in the work area must remain clear or be relocated.

Churches and listed buildings

The late Gothic church of St. Peter with its five-storey tower is a listed building. For work on listed buildings, obtain the consent of the lower monument protection authority at the Landshut District Office in advance. If the platform cannot be set up directly at the building, outreach helps: the Manitou 220 TJ Plus reaches 17.79 m sideways at 21.74 m working height.

Gradient: find a level set-up position, use outreach

Every telescopic boom lift may only be set up up to the slope specified by the manufacturer in the data sheet. On a slope, look for the most level position, such as the farmyard, and bridge the rest with outreach. The Genie S-85 reaches 23.32 m sideways, the Genie SX-135XC 27.43 m.

Soft ground: check weight and chassis

On meadows, farm tracks and after rain, the ground bears less. The Genie S-65 Trax (12,269 kg) and S-65XC Trax (13,154 kg) both reach around 21.80 m working height and are built as Trax versions for unpaved terrain. On very soft ground, also lay load distribution plates or reinforce the access route.

The Munich–Regensburg and Landshut–Plattling railway lines run through Ergolding. A new business and industrial park is being developed between the two lines. Tall halls are being built there, facades installed and roofs sealed.

Large units from 34 m working height

For tall new builds, eight models from 34 m are available: Genie S-105 (34.00 m), JLG 1200SJP (38.73 m), Genie SX-125XC (40.10 m), S-125 (40.15 m), SX-135XC (43.15 m), JLG 1350SJP (43.30 m), Genie SX-150 (48.33 m) and SX-180 (56.90 m). They weigh between 18,114 and 24,856 kg. The site road must carry this weight, and the low-loader needs space to turn.

Work near the tracks

If the work area is close to tracks or overhead lines, coordinate the job with the railway infrastructure manager in advance. The boom must not swing into the danger zone of the overhead line. This often requires track possessions or slewing limits.
