Forklift Rental in Landshut: Six Questions for the Right Choice
In Landshut, you can rent forklifts from us from 53 models with 1,200 to 33,000 kg capacity and lift heights up to 6.07 m. Jobs in the city range from warehouses in commercial areas to trade fair set-ups to construction sites on slopes or in the old town. A wrongly chosen forklift may tip over, get stuck in gravel or not fit through the gate. Six questions clarify before renting which type suits your job: weight, lift height, job site, ground, duration and driver. Below, you will find the matching models from the Forklifts category for each question. Delivery is from Passau by low-loader. Further machines for the city are presented on the page Construction machinery rental in Landshut.
Forklift Rental in Landshut: Six Questions Lead to the Right Type
The type follows from the answers, not the other way round. The table shows which type is suitable for which answers. If several types apply, the ground or the load usually decides, rarely the lift height.
| Type | Models | Capacity | Lift height | Suitable if … |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric | 22 | 1,500–10,000 kg | 3.45–6.00 m | work takes place in halls, including shift operation |
| Diesel | 11 | 3,000–10,000 kg | 4.50–6.00 m | work takes place outdoors on paved surfaces |
| LPG | 3 | 1,800–7,000 kg | 5.04–6.03 m | you switch between yard and hall and the risk assessment permits it |
| Rough terrain | 4 | 3,000–5,000 kg | 4.75–5.45 m | gravel, soil or gradients are driven on |
| Heavy-duty | 7 | 8,000–33,000 kg | 4.50–6.07 m | machines or components over 10 t are moved |
| Pallet stacker | 6 | 1,200–2,000 kg | 2.70–5.50 m | light pallets are stacked in the warehouse |
Question 1 for Forklifts in Landshut: What Does the Load Weigh?
What matters is the weight at the actual centre of gravity, not the figure on the delivery note. If the centre of gravity lies further forward than assumed in the data sheet, for example with long crates or machines, the residual capacity decreases. If in doubt, weigh again and measure the length and centre of gravity of the load. For crates with unknown contents, a look at the shipping documents or a query to the manufacturer of the goods often helps.
Up to 5 t: pallets, building materials, mesh boxes
For standard pallets, electric, diesel or LPG forklifts in the lower part of their range are sufficient. Pallet stackers move 1,200 to 2,000 kg if stacking only takes place in the warehouse.
5 to 10 t: steel, concrete parts, heavy crates
In this range, electric and diesel forklifts with up to 10,000 kg remain in play; LPG forklifts end at 7,000 kg. Long parts such as beams or pipes require wide fork tines or a fork extension. Whether the centre of gravity is then still within the permissible range is shown by the load chart on the forklift.
Over 10 t: machines and heavy components
From here, only heavy-duty forklifts will do. The Kalmar DCG 330-12T carries up to 33,000 kg. For this, also check the route, floor slab and gate width, because such a forklift is considerably larger than a warehouse machine.
Question 2: How High Must the Forks Reach in Your Landshut Business?
The lift height must match the highest storage point, the overall height of the mast the lowest gate. Both belong in the enquiry, because a high mast can exceed the clearance height even when lowered.
Our highest lift is 6.07 m, achieved by the Hyundai 80D-9. Electric forklifts reach up to 6.00 m, LPG forklifts up to 6.03 m. For loading a truck, a few metres are usually sufficient; for racking storage, the top level including the safety clearance counts. If the storage point is higher or behind an edge, a telehandler is the right machine.
Also note that the residual capacity can decrease with lift height. A load that is moved without problems at floor level may be too heavy at the top racking level. Pallet stackers reach from 2.70 to 5.50 m and are suitable for light pallets in narrow aisles.
Question 3 for Forklifts in Landshut: Indoors or Outdoors?
The job site determines the drive type. Commercial premises in Landshut can be found, for example, in the Industriegebiet district and in the Messepark, which was built in 2003 on the site of the former Schoch barracks. For the industrial area at Landshut-Nord there is a separate page: Forklifts in Ergolding.
In halls and warehouses
Electric forklifts operate without exhaust at the job site and are therefore the first choice in enclosed spaces. Our 22 models carry 1,500 to 10,000 kg. For trade fair set-ups, clarify in advance with the organiser which machines are permitted in the halls.
Outdoors and alternating
Diesel forklifts work on storage yards and at ramps outdoors. LPG forklifts are suitable for alternating between yard and hall, but in hall operation only if the risk assessment permits it.
Where pedestrians and forklifts use the same areas, for example for deliveries in the city centre or at a hall with visitor traffic, separate driveways and walkways visibly. Reversing with an obstructed view should remain the exception; a banksman helps here.
Question 4: What Ground Awaits the Forklift in Landshut?
Warehouse forklifts are built for smooth, load-bearing floors; on loose ground they lose grip. The tyres must therefore match the ground.
Paved surfaces and cobblestones
Hall floors, asphalt and concrete carry electric, diesel and LPG forklifts. With heavy-duty forklifts, a look at the structural analysis is worthwhile, because when lifting, a large part of the dead weight and load rests on the front axle. Manhole covers, gutters and ramp edges are typical weak points. In the old town, about half of which is a pedestrian zone, there is also paving. For parking and working in public space, you need a special use permit from the city.
Construction site, meadow and gradient
On gravel and soil, rough-terrain forklifts are required: the Manitou M30-4 and M50-4 as well as the Ausa C300H and C500H x4 carry 3,000 to 5,000 kg. The southern city districts border a range of hills; there, drive with the load facing uphill. The flood channel north of the Isar is flooded during high water, and its ground can remain soft for a long time afterwards.
Question 5: How Long and in How Many Shifts Will the Forklift Work?
The rental period mainly influences the choice between battery and combustion engine. Therefore plan working hours and breaks already when enquiring.
Short job of a few days
For unloading a delivery or a machine relocation, what matters most is that the forklift carries the weight and can get started without preparation. Diesel and LPG need no charging time; electric forklifts usually last one shift without intermediate charging. Coordinate delivery and collection of the forklift with the arrival of the goods so that the machine does not stand unused in the yard for days. If the delivery is postponed, let us know early.
Multi-shift operation over weeks
If several shifts are running, electric forklifts need a fixed charging point with a power connection and charging planning between shifts. For longer rentals, it is worth defining routes, charging point and parking space once instead of searching for them anew every day.
Switching between several job sites
If the same forklift is to work at two locations in the city one after the other, for example north and south of the Isar, plan the relocation as a separate transport. Give us both addresses and the desired order.
Question 6: Who Drives the Forklift in Landshut?
Only persons who meet the requirements under § 7 DGUV Vorschrift 68 may drive: at least 18 years old, fit, trained and authorised in writing by the employer. Training follows DGUV Grundsatz 308-001.
Your risk assessment under § 3 BetrSichV determines where and under what conditions the forklift operates. Instruction of employees is required by § 12 BetrSichV and § 12 ArbSchG. Our briefing on handover explains the delivered machine; it does not replace the Staplerschein. Therefore ensure that the future drivers are present at handover. If drivers change during the rental period, each new driver needs authorisation and instruction before moving the forklift. If you lack trained staff, we can put you in touch with a certified training provider, see Training through certified partners.
Delivery of Forklifts from Passau to Landshut
The low-loader travels around 120 km from Passau via the A3 and the A92 to Landshut. At the destination, it needs access and a level spot for unloading, with correspondingly more space for heavy-duty forklifts. In the old town's pedestrian zone, agree the unloading point and time window with the city in advance.
The neighbouring municipalities of Altdorf, Kumhausen and Essenbach are also supplied. There are separate pages for surrounding towns: Ergolding, Forklifts in Dingolfing, Forklifts in Erding and Freising. The page Transport describes how delivery works.
