Forklift rental in Rosenheim – renting in five steps
We rent forklifts for Rosenheim from a fleet of 53 models with 1,200 to 33,000 kg lifting capacity and lift heights up to 6.07 m, delivered by low-loader from our Passau location. More than 36,000 employees subject to social insurance contributions work in the city (as of June 2023). From the timber industry to production and retail, pallets, crates and components are moved in warehouses, workshops and on construction sites.
Anyone who only rents a forklift occasionally often does not know what information is needed for a suitable quote and what has to be prepared at the site. This page therefore takes you through a rental in five steps, from clarifying requirements to collection. Further machines for the city are shown on Construction machinery rental in Rosenheim, all forklifts in the Forklifts category.
Forklift rental in Rosenheim: step 1 – clarify your requirements
It starts with the load, not the machine. Knowing the weight, dimensions and place of use lets you narrow the selection down to a few models.
Weight and centre of gravity of the load
A forklift's lifting capacity refers to a defined distance between the fork back and the load's centre of gravity. If the centre of gravity is further forward, for example with long timber packs or wide crates, the permissible load decreases. The load chart on the machine shows how much is permitted at which lift height and distance.
With timber packs, window elements or panel material, it pays to look at length and support. Long loads need widely spaced forks or fork extensions and more room when turning. Include such special features in your enquiry.

Duration and rhythm of use
Whether the forklift unloads a truck for a day or runs in two shifts for weeks influences the choice. For long jobs with electric drive, charging time must fit into the workflow; for diesel machines, refuelling. For seasonal peaks, for example before stocktaking or large deliveries, plan early so that the desired model can be scheduled.
Step 2: choose the right forklift type for Rosenheim
The type follows from this information. The table shows which groups are available in the rental fleet and what they are intended for.
| Type | Models | Lifting capacity | Lift height | Main application |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric | 22 | 1,500–10,000 kg | 3.45–6.00 m | Halls, warehouses, production |
| Diesel | 11 | 3,000–10,000 kg | 4.50–6.00 m | Yards, storage areas, truck unloading |
| LPG | 3 | 1,800–7,000 kg | 5.04–6.03 m | Alternating between yard and hall |
| Rough terrain | 4 | 3,000–5,000 kg | 4.75–5.45 m | Construction sites, unpaved areas |
| Heavy-duty | 7 | 8,000–33,000 kg | 4.50–6.07 m | Machinery, steel, precast elements |
| Stackers | 6 | 1,200–2,000 kg | 2.70–5.50 m | Racking, short distances in the warehouse |
Drive according to place of use
In enclosed spaces the electric forklift is the rule, because it runs without exhaust emissions on site. Diesel is suitable for outdoor work, for example in storage yards and when unloading in the yard. For racking and short distances in the warehouse, a stacker with 1,200 to 2,000 kg lifting capacity, which remains manoeuvrable in narrow aisles, is often sufficient. An LPG forklift may only be driven in the hall if your risk assessment permits it.
Limit at 6.07 m and 33,000 kg
The greatest lift height in the rental fleet is reached by the Hyundai 80D-9 with 6.07 m, the greatest lifting capacity by the Kalmar DCG 330-12T with 33,000 kg. If the load has to go higher or over an edge, a telehandler is the right machine.
Heavy-duty forklifts are considerably larger and heavier than standard machines. Before you decide on one, the travel route, gate clearance and hall floor should be checked for the total weight of forklift and load. For loads between 8,000 and 10,000 kg, a large electric or diesel forklift may also suffice depending on the place of use.
Step 3: prepare the site in Rosenheim
Before the forklift arrives, the route from the unloading point to the work area should be clear and load-bearing. This saves time at handover and avoids damage.
Hall, ramp and charging point
Check gate height and width against the mast's overall height and the machine's width. Hall floors and ramps must bear the forklift and load together. Electric forklifts need a charging point with a suitable power supply and, in shift operation, time to charge.
Yard, construction site and old town
On gravel, grass or freshly backfilled areas, the four rough-terrain forklifts Manitou M30-4, M50-4, Ausa C300H and C500H x4 work with 3,000 to 5,000 kg. Deliveries into the pedestrian zone at Max-Josefs-Platz are only possible with a permit from the city; for event areas such as the Loretowiese, the respective organiser is the contact. Check storage areas near the Inn and Mangfall for softened ground after heavy rain.
Separating traffic routes and pedestrians
Where forklifts and pedestrians share areas, traffic routes should be marked and narrow points secured. Determine where loads may and may not be set down, for example in front of emergency exits or fire extinguishers. Ramp edges and dock levellers should be secured against slipping before the first forklift drives over them.
Step 4: deliver, hand over and instruct on the forklift in Rosenheim
From Passau it is around 160 km to Rosenheim. The forklift comes by low-loader; details on vehicles and unloading can be found under Transport.
Handover on site
On arrival we inspect and document the condition of the machine together with you. We then explain the controls, load chart, charging or refuelling and the daily visual inspection. This machine familiarisation is aimed at drivers who are already trained and does not turn untrained people into forklift drivers.
Have a contact person and the designated drivers ready for the handover. The unloading area should be clear, level and accessible for the low-loader. For electric forklifts we show you the charging process at the designated connection, for diesel and LPG machines refuelling or cylinder change respectively.
We also deliver to Kolbermoor, Stephanskirchen, Grosskarolinenfeld, Bad Aibling or Wasserburg am Inn. Other locations have their own pages, for example Muehldorf am Inn, Munich and forklifts in Erding. For heavy parts inside buildings, the mini crane in Rosenheim is an alternative.
Step 5: return and collection of the forklift in Rosenheim
At the end of the rental we collect the forklift again. A few preparations ensure the collection runs smoothly.
How to return the forklift
Notify us of the end of the rental in good time so that the low-loader can be scheduled. Place the machine on a paved area accessible to the truck and remove load and your own accessories. If the forklift is in a hall, the route to the gate should be clear and someone should be on site to open access. This allows collection without waiting time for the low-loader. It is best to tell us in advance about any damage or anomalies during the rental, so they can be recorded together at collection. If the machine is needed longer, request an extension in good time.
If requirements change during the rental
If heavier or bulkier loads are added than planned, the forklift should not be loaded beyond its load chart. When you notify us, we check a machine exchange, for example from an electric to a heavy-duty forklift or from a diesel to a rough-terrain forklift. An additional machine for a peak can also be requested in parallel.
Obligations for forklift drivers in Rosenheim
According to DGUV Vorschrift 68 § 7, a forklift may only be operated by someone who is at least 18 years old, physically and mentally suitable, trained and commissioned in writing by the employer. Training is carried out according to DGUV Grundsatz 308-001.
Obligations of the company
The company assesses the hazards at the site in a risk assessment under § 3 BetrSichV, for example pedestrian traffic, ramps and storage heights. Driver instruction follows § 12 BetrSichV and § 12 ArbSchG. If an employee lacks the Staplerschein, we can put you in touch with a certified training provider via training through certified partners, free of charge and without obligation.
If you use drivers from external companies or temporary staff, have them provide proof of training and arrange the written commissioning before their first job. Instruction always relates to the specific site, i.e. the travel routes, loads and hazards in your company or on your construction site.
