Rent a Hybrid Scissor Lift from Luibl Rental

A hybrid scissor lift solves a problem that comes up constantly in day-to-day project work: the machine has to reach its place of work across unpaved ground and then work inside an enclosed hall where exhaust fumes and noise are not permitted. Anyone who hires two machines for this pays for two transports and two rental items. The Luibl rental fleet comprises four scissor lifts with switchable drive – working heights from 11.75 m to 27.20 m, capacities from 363 kg to 1,000 kg. Every machine is inspected before handover in line with the inspection cycles of DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance) Regel 100-500 (Chapter 2.10) and DIN EN 280.

Two drive concepts sit behind the term:

• Bi-energy: A diesel power pack charges the battery and handles travel on rough terrain; for lifting and travelling indoors the machine switches to pure battery operation. The diesel engine stays switched off.

• Hybrid: Diesel and electric drive are permanently combined; the control system selects the operating mode according to load or by operator preselection. Typical of the heavy rough-terrain scissor lifts with four-wheel drive.

In practice both mean the same thing: one machine, two working environments, one transport.

The Heavy-Duty Class: 27 m Working Height with 1,000 kg

The Holland Lift M250HYL25 Combistar 4WD is the only machine in the rental fleet that combines 27.20 m working height, 1,000 kg platform capacity and four-wheel drive with a switchable drive concept. The platform extends to 8.25 m – the basic prerequisite when facade elements, ventilation runs or sandwich panels are to be worked on in a single lift without repositioning the machine. Typical applications: facade installation on multi-storey logistics halls, structural steel assembly in plant construction, roof work followed by interior fit-out.

The Mid-Range: 12 m to 15 m for Mixed Operation

The three bi-energy machines cover the range in which most mixed-use projects fall – commercial construction, hall refurbishment, ventilation and sprinkler installation on sites that do not yet have a reliable mains connection.

• PB S151-19EGI 4x4 – 15.00 m working height, 500 kg capacity, platform extendable to 6.36 m, four-wheel drive. The strongest of the three when material has to go up on the platform.

• Genie GS 4069DC – 14.12 m working height, 363 kg capacity, compact base dimensions of 2.79 m × 1.60 m. Fits through site gates that are too narrow for the larger rough-terrain scissor lifts.

• Genie GS 3369BE – 11.75 m working height, 454 kg capacity, identical base dimensions to the GS 4069DC with a higher capacity. The choice for two-man installation work with tools.

The switching capability carries a rental surcharge over a pure electric scissor lift of the same working height. It pays off as soon as one of these four points applies:

1. No reliable mains connection at the site. On shell construction sites the temporary power supply is usually fully allocated. Anyone deploying an electric scissor lift without guaranteed overnight charging loses working time on day two. The diesel power pack charges independently of the mains.

2. The machine has to cross rough ground to reach its position. Topsoil, gravel, site access roads with gradients: electric scissor lifts with non-marking tyres are not designed for this. The hybrid machines in the fleet have four-wheel drive.

3. Indoor and outdoor use alternate over the course of the project. Facade first, interior fit-out afterwards – a classic in commercial and logistics construction. Changing machines means two transports, two briefings and a gap in the construction schedule.

4. Emission requirements indoors. In food-processing plants, cleanrooms and logistics operations that stay in service, diesel operation is ruled out. Pure battery operation meets the requirements for locally emission-free work without giving up the rough-terrain capability needed to get there.

If none of these points applies, the pure electric scissor lift or the diesel scissor lift is the more economical choice.

Switching at standstill, not under load. The operating mode is changed with the machine stationary, via the ground controls or – depending on the model – via the platform controls. Switching during a lifting movement is not provided for by design. For work planning this means: the operating mode is selected before set-up, not during the work.

Battery capacity determines indoor running time. In pure electric operation the duty period is limited by the battery. As a planning figure, allow one working day on a full charge with a normal lifting and travel profile. For multi-shift indoor operation, either a charging break has to be scheduled or the power pack has to be used for recharging outside the emission-sensitive area.

Check the tyre specification. Rough-terrain capability and non-marking properties are two separate requirements. If the machine continues working on a coated hall floor after outdoor use, the tyres must be clarified explicitly with the enquiry – please state this in your enquiry text.

Weight and wheel load. Switchable machines carry both a power pack and a battery set. Their total weight is higher than that of a pure electric scissor lift of the same working height. For work on suspended floors in underground car parks or upper storeys, the wheel load of the specific model is decisive, not the total weight – we provide the data sheets before the rental starts.

Outriggers and ground gradient. The rough-terrain models level out using hydraulic outriggers. The permissible ground gradient during operation is model-specific and documented in the data sheet; the tilt sensor cuts out the lifting function if it is exceeded.

Every scissor lift from the Luibl rental fleet undergoes the UVV inspection (statutory accident-prevention inspection) in accordance with DGUV Vorschrift 68/69 (BGG 945) and is checked by our workshop staff before every delivery. Standard equipment includes a tilt alarm, overload protection, a mechanical emergency lowering system and emergency lowering from the ground on both sides. For operation the following applies unchanged: operators must be instructed in accordance with BetrSichV (German Industrial Safety Regulation) Section 12 and DGUV Grundsatz 308-008, and personal fall protection equipment (PSAgA) is mandatory on the platform. For training we refer to IPAF/PAL-Card certified partners. Switchable operation adds two points: * The briefing must cover both operating modes – in practice operating errors occur above all during the changeover. * If the diesel power pack is operated in enclosed spaces, the ventilation requirements of TRGS 554 apply. Avoiding exactly that is the purpose of electric operation; the operator's written operating instructions should cover this unambiguously. Transport is handled by our own low-loader fleet, with delivery throughout Germany and to all other Luibl markets: Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Czechia, Italy, Hungary and Luxembourg. For long-term rentals we offer combined packages including UVV inspection and annual servicing within the rental period.
