Rent aerial work platforms and construction machinery in Povazska Bystrica

In Povazska Bystrica, aerial work platforms and construction machinery are used above all for steel: for hall structures, crane runways, pipe racks and plant components that are being installed, extended or repaired. The town is a location for metalworking and mechanical engineering with a strong automotive share, and that shapes every enquiry: it is not the working height that decides, but the weight that has to go up as well. Two fitters with a welding set and gas cylinders quickly reach the limit of what a boom platform will carry.

Platform capacity first: work on steel structures

For installation and repair work on steel components, the permissible platform capacity is the first selection criterion, not the last. The strongest class in the rental fleet are diesel scissor lifts with up to 1,134 kg — enough for personnel, equipment and material to arrive at the top in a single lift. On unpaved works yards, the all-wheel-drive version plays to its strengths.

Inside the hall, where exhaust fumes are out of the question, electric scissor lifts take over with up to 1,000 kg platform capacity. For outdoor structures, pipe bridges and conveyor towers that the machine cannot drive underneath directly, articulating boom lifts are the right class — although the platform capacity here is considerably lower and decreases as the boom is extended further. For great heights on chimneys, silos and towers, telescopic boom lifts are available up to 56.90 m.

Hot work brings requirements of its own: flying sparks, fire watch, protection of the machine and of the areas below it. Let us know whether welding will be carried out in the platform — the choice of machine and its equipment depend on it.

Platform plus telehandler: lifting material without a crane

In steel construction and crane installation, the lifting equipment itself is up for discussion: the crane system is precisely the component being worked on, and a mobile crane is out of proportion for lifts measured in days. The usual answer is a combination of an aerial work platform for the working position and a telehandler for the material.

Fixed-frame models lift 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t and also cover the heavy assemblies. Rotating telehandlers reach 15.42 to 38.90 m and lift all round from a single set-up position — decisive when a hall bay can only be reached from one clear area. Inside the building, the electric version does the work; forks, load hooks and work platform mounts are available as attachments.

The rental fleet in figures

ClassWorking heightPlatform capacity
Scissor lifts electric6.30 – 33.00 m227 – 1,000 kg
Scissor lifts diesel9.70 – 34.00 m363 – 1,134 kg
High-rack scissor lifts18.50 – 33.00 m450 – 1,000 kg
Articulating boom lifts10.89 – 48.15 m150 – 450 kg
Telescopic boom lifts14.00 – 56.90 m227 – 454 kg
Mast lifts10.00 – 12.65 m200 kg
Spider lifts13.00 – 39.50 m200 – 400 kg

High-rack scissor lifts work in narrow storage aisles; for inspection rounds in workshop and office wings, a mast lift is sufficient.

A works site grown over decades in a narrow valley

The second theme is conversion work within the existing fabric. The works areas have grown over decades and are densely built up, and the valley leaves hardly any room for lateral expansion: halls adjoin one another, with narrow access lanes between them and pipe bridges and rail sidings above.

For planning, that means three things. The clearance height under pipe bridges and crane runways often limits which machine can reach the place of work — measure it before you fix the working height. In cramped yards, a machine with all-round outriggers may block the only access route; here narrow-bodied scissor lifts have the advantage. Where set-up areas are soft or built over cellars, spider lifts with low ground pressure come into play.

For dismantling and foundation work, excavators from 1.8 to 30 t round off the programme. For in-plant transport, forklifts from 3 to 16 t are available, as heavy-duty forklifts for heavy assemblies, plus high-lift stackers with up to 5.50 m lifting height. The rest of the earthmoving and civil engineering fleet is listed under construction machinery.

Vyhlaska 508/2009: official inspections for mobile elevating work platforms

In a business that builds lifting equipment itself, the system is familiar — even so, it is worth looking at how the rented machine is classified. Vyhlaska MPSVR SR 508/2009 Z. z. lists a pojazdna pracovna plosina with a motor drive and a lifting height of more than 1.5 m as a zdvihacie technicke zariadenie skupiny A; it is therefore a vyhradene technicke zariadenie, for which official inspections are prescribed — uradne skusky and, at recurring intervals, opakovane uradne skusky — as well as formal requirements for operator qualification. In addition, NV SR 392/2006 Z. z., Zakon 124/2006 Z. z. and the test standard STN EN 280 apply.

We supply the test certificate, CE documentation and operating manual with every machine; the risk assessment, proof of qualification and instruction at the place of work remain with the hirer. For work on steel structures, the points that follow from the activity itself also belong in it: hot work permit and fire watch, fall protection at the end of the boom, securing of the area beneath the working position and coordination with the operation of the crane system. The visual and functional check before work begins cannot be passed on to the rental company.

Transport to Povazska Bystrica

From Passau it is around 430 km to Povazska Bystrica, mostly motorway via Linz and Vienna. We schedule transport with our own low-loaders and partner hauliers and coordinate the date with your installation planning.

For works sites, we need the delivery point, the clearance width and height and the permissible axle load in advance — on densely built-up areas, the last lane is regularly the bottleneck. For requirements lasting several months, long-term rental terms apply; platform, telehandler and attachments are calculated as a package. Further locations in the valley, for example towards Trencin, can be planned into the same run.

Frequently Asked Questions in Povazska Bystrica

chevronDown

Which platform can carry two fitters with welding and cutting equipment?

Start by adding up the total weight: personnel, personal protective equipment, welding or flame-cutting equipment, cylinders and tools. If the total exceeds what a boom lift basket can carry, the answer lies with scissor lifts — the diesel version takes up to 1,134 kg. Articulated telescopic and telescopic boom lifts are well below this, and the permissible load decreases as the boom is extended.

Is welding or cutting permitted in the basket of a rental platform?

This depends on the machine and the application and must be clarified in advance. Flying sparks can damage hydraulic hoses, cables and panelling, and the area beneath the work position must be secured against falling hot material; this includes a hot work permit and a fire watch. Let us know that hot work is planned and we will select the machine accordingly.

Who carries out the prescribed inspections on a rental machine?

We as the rental company are responsible for the inspections on the machine itself: every platform is supplied with a valid inspection certificate, CE documentation and operating instructions. Everything relating to the specific job — risk assessment, proof of operator qualification under Slovak law, instruction of personnel and the daily visual and function check — is the responsibility of the company carrying out the work.

What limits the choice of machine on an industrial site that has grown over time?

Almost always the access route, not the required working height. Pipe bridges, crane runways, rail sidings and canopies restrict the clearance height, narrow traffic lanes restrict the width, and stored material reduces the set-up area. Measure the narrowest point along the entire route before the machine class is decided.

How do I lift material up when the crane system itself is being repaired?

With a telehandler. Fixed-frame models lift up to 25 t, roto models reach 38.90 m and work all round from a single set-up position, which is the deciding factor in cramped works yards. An access platform covers the personnel position in parallel — for assembly work lasting days to weeks this is usually more economical than a mobile crane.
