With machines, the centre of gravity is rarely in the middle

The rated capacity in the data sheet assumes a fixed load centre. With machines, the centre of gravity is often off-centre, for example on the motor or spindle side. If it shifts forward, the load the forklift may safely lift decreases. Please therefore send us the weight, external dimensions and, if known, the position of the centre of gravity from the machine documentation. We then use the load chart to check which model is sufficient.

Check the hall floor and door openings before moving day

A loaded heavy-duty forklift puts the machine and its own weight onto a few wheel contact areas. In older factory buildings, check whether the hall floor, basement ceilings and shaft covers along the route can bear this load. Also compare the height and width of the doors with the forklift dimensions given in the data sheet and decide where the machine will be set down.

If the forklift alternates between indoor and outdoor work, the 3 LPG forklifts with 1,800 to 7,000 kg are an option. Whether LPG is permitted in the hall is something you clarify through your risk assessment and with the hall operator.

On slopes, keep the load on the uphill side

On ramps and hillside access roads, the load always stays on the uphill side: drive forwards uphill and in reverse downhill. Measure the gradient of the access road and state it in your enquiry so that we can take it into account when choosing the model.

The highest lift height in the forklift rental fleet is 6.07 m (Hyundai 80D-9). Three questions determine which machine you need:

1. How high does the load have to go? Up to 6.07 m, a forklift is sufficient. Above that, a telehandler lifts up to 38.90 m.

2. Does the load have to be placed forward? A forklift only sets loads down directly in front of it. For material on scaffolding, a roof or beyond an excavation pit, you need the reach of a telehandler.

3. How much space is there? In a narrow racking aisle and at the loading dock, a high-lift stacker is often easier to handle than a counterbalance forklift.

If people are to work at height, a telescopic boom lift is the right machine, not a forklift.

Section 7 of DGUV Regulation 68 (DGUV Vorschrift 68) permits independent operation only by persons aged 18 or over who are suitable and trained, have demonstrated their competence and have been authorised in writing by the employer. What you as the operator do before use

Before first use, you prepare or supplement the risk assessment under Section 3 BetrSichV (German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health) and instruct the drivers on the rented model under Section 12 BetrSichV and Section 12 ArbSchG (German Occupational Safety and Health Act). For heavy-duty forklifts, the load chart of the specific machine is part of the instruction.
