Rent Aerial Work Platforms and Forklifts in Bari
Luibl Rental rents out aerial work platforms, forklifts and telehandlers in Bari for industry, port, retail and construction and delivers every machine directly to your site with its own low-loader fleet. The Apulian capital, with just over 300,000 inhabitants, is the economic centre of the southern Adriatic: plants and suppliers in the industrial zone, ferry traffic across the sea, a strong agricultural and food sector in the surrounding area. Anyone planning a project here has to bring together equipment, access and Italian operator obligations. This page sets out the fields of application, names the suitable equipment and explains what the law requires of you as the hirer.
Bari uses lifting equipment in industry, the port, agriculture and urban construction
Four economic sectors generate most of the demand for rental equipment in and around Bari.
-
Bari-Modugno industrial zone. West of the city, near Bari-Palese airport, lies the most important industrial area in the province, with plants in automotive supply, mechanical engineering and electronics. Maintenance on production lines, crane runways and hall roofs is the classic reason for renting a platform here.
-
Port and logistics. Ferries run from the Porto di Bari to Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Greece, plus cruise and cargo handling. Forklifts and telehandlers are needed in the port area and at the Interporto Regionale della Puglia for trailers, containers and general cargo.
-
Agriculture and food industry. Olive oil, table grapes, almonds and vegetables characterise the Terra di Bari. Oil mills, cold stores and packaging companies work seasonally with high throughput – a typical case for rough-terrain forklifts and fleets topped up at short notice.
-
Trade fairs, retail and urban development. The Fiera del Levante by the sea is one of the most traditional trade fair venues in southern Italy. In addition, there are shopping centres on the outskirts, hotel buildings and the renovation of buildings in the Murat district.
Bari has good transport links: the A14 runs north and south along the Adriatic, and the A16 leads over the Apennines towards Campania. Many companies in the region have therefore settled along these routes and the coastal state road, from Molfetta in the north to Mola di Bari in the south.
Aerial work platforms for Bari – from the maze of old town lanes to the industrial hall
Within a few kilometres, Bari offers very different working environments. That is why we recommend the platform according to the location, not just the height.
Bari Vecchia, the old town on the peninsula between the two harbours, consists of winding lanes, steps and small squares. Only compact machines can get through here: mast lifts and narrow electric scissor lifts that fit through gateways and, thanks to their low weight, can also stand on old paving.
In the Quartiere Murattiano, by contrast, the streets are laid out in a wide grid. On the facades of the town houses with their balconies and stone ornaments, articulated boom lifts work from the pavement without having to stand directly below the work point.
In the halls of Modugno or in large stores on the outskirts, platform size and load capacity count. Electric scissor lifts bring two to three fitters plus tools up to the ceiling there, without exhaust at the point of use.
For high-bay warehouses, silos, advertising pylons or work on the harbour quay, where the machine position is far from the target, telescopic boom lifts with great reach are suitable. The rental fleet consists mainly of machines from Haulotte and Genie, which we service according to the manufacturer's schedule before each delivery.
Forklifts and telehandlers in Bari keep harvested crops, pallets and building materials moving
In addition to platforms, our range in Bari includes two equipment families for handling.
-
Forklifts: electric forklifts for cold stores, food halls and warehouses in the Interporto; diesel forklifts for open areas at the port; rough-terrain forklifts for the yards of oil mills and agricultural businesses, where work at harvest time takes place on gravel and soil.
-
Telehandlers: They combine lift height with forward reach and get to unloading points behind side walls or on roofs. The Manitou MT 730 H lifts 3,000 kg to 6.90 m. For greater reach or a rotating superstructure, we offer machines from Manitou, Merlo and Magni.
In Apulia, many buildings are constructed solidly from limestone and concrete. Telehandlers place heavy pallets of stone, precast elements or roof tiles directly onto the floor slab. If you rent a platform and a telehandler for the same project, you receive both in one quote – for a few days, a harvest season or the entire construction period.
Italian law determines who may operate an aerial work platform in Bari
The relevant law is Decreto Legislativo 81/2008, the Italian Testo unico on occupational safety; work equipment is covered by its Titolo III.
The most important rule concerns operators: for mobile elevating work platforms (PLE) and for ride-on forklifts, an abilitazione in accordance with the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 17 April 2025 is required (art. 73 c. 5). In addition, every employer owes its staff its own machine-specific instruction (art. 73 c. 4). An IPAF card is welcome as additional proof but does not replace the abilitazione.
The machines themselves are also inspected. Under Allegato VII, mobile elevating work platforms undergo an annual verifica periodica, the first of which is carried out by INAIL; telehandlers are also inspected every year.
For a rental without operator, as we offer, we certify the proper condition of the machine at handover and obtain your self-declaration that your operators are trained (art. 72 c. 2). We then familiarise your team with the machine on site. We do not provide drivers or platform operators.
We keep your self-declaration for the entire rental period. So when you enquire, please have ready which employees will operate the machine and which qualifications they hold – this makes the handover on site easier.
Delivery in Bari and Apulia – with our own low-loader fleet directly to your site
We handle transport ourselves and deliver with our own low-loader fleet directly to your site – in Bari and to the commercial areas along the A14 and the coastal road, to Molfetta, Monopoli or Altamura. In Bari Vecchia and on the seafront promenade, access and parking space are limited; we therefore agree route, unloading point and date with you in advance. If you manage other construction sites in the south, you can also rent from us for Naples, Rome or Catania.
A comparison of all designs and an explanation of what the rental price depends on is provided in the overview Lifting platform rental – all platform types at a glance.
