Rent Aerial Work Platforms and Forklifts in Italy
Throughout Italy, your company can rent aerial work platforms, forklifts and telehandlers from Luibl Rental – from the industrial zone in Lombardy to the port in Sicily, delivered by our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site. With around 59 million inhabitants, the country has a strongly regional economy: the north lives from mechanical engineering and the automotive and metal industries, the centre from administration, fashion and tourism, the south from ports, logistics and agriculture. Requirements for lifting equipment vary accordingly. This overview shows where we support which operations, which rules Italian law sets for rental equipment and how delivery works. Each city links to its own city page.
Italy's north-west with Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria needs lifting equipment for industry and ports
The north-west is Italy's industrial heartland. Three regions differ markedly:
-
Lombardy: Around Milan, mechanical and plant engineering, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, trade and one of Europe's largest exhibition centres in Rho are concentrated. Hall construction, trade fair set-up and logistics create high demand for scissor lifts and electric forklifts. In Brescia, steel processing and the metal industry shape the economy, with heavy loads and tall factory halls.
-
Piedmont: Turin is the traditional home of the automotive industry and its suppliers, along with aerospace and food manufacturers. Maintenance in production halls is the most common field of application.
-
Liguria: Genoa is one of the country's largest ports and home to shipyards. On the quay and in the shipyards, telescopic boom lifts with long reach and diesel forklifts for handling are used; the city's hillside location also calls for off-road capable machines.
Veneto, Friuli and Emilia-Romagna stand for SMEs, trade fairs and port logistics
East of Lombardy lies an economic zone with many medium-sized companies, strong trade fair locations and important ports.
-
Veneto: In Venice, the lagoon and canals demand special logistics, while industry and the port are located on the mainland in Porto Marghera and Mestre. Verona is known as a trade fair city and transport hub on the Brenner corridor, Padua as a trade and logistics centre with a large freight village. Furniture, metal and food companies in the region use forklifts and indoor platforms.
-
Friuli Venezia Giulia: Trieste is a port for containers and crude oil and the starting point for freight trains to Central Europe. Port handling and warehouse logistics determine rental demand here.
-
Emilia-Romagna: Bologna stands for packaging machinery, vehicle and motorcycle manufacturers in the surrounding area and a large trade fair. The region between Parma, Modena and Bologna combines the food industry, ceramics and mechanical engineering – and the requirements for forklifts and aerial work platforms are correspondingly diverse.
In central and southern Italy, old towns, ports and agriculture determine the rental equipment
The further south you go, the more historic buildings, the port economy and agricultural businesses shape the operations.
-
Tuscany: In Florence, heritage conservation, the fashion and leather industries and tourism dominate. In the old town, compact mast and scissor lifts are in demand; in the surrounding area, forklifts for warehouses and production.
-
Lazio: Rome combines public authorities, services, an airport and an enormous stock of historic buildings. Access restrictions in the centre make careful delivery planning necessary.
-
Campania: Around Naples lie the port, the automotive and aviation industries and large freight villages in the hinterland.
-
Apulia: Bari combines industry, a ferry port and a strong agricultural sector with olive oil and table grapes.
-
Sicily: Palermo is an administrative and port city, Catania a location of the electronics industry at the foot of Mount Etna, Messina a ferry hub on the strait to the mainland. On the island, telehandlers and rough-terrain forklifts are particularly widespread in agriculture and construction.
Regions without their own city page are also part of our delivery area, such as Trentino, Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo or Calabria. There, the spectrum ranges from wineries and industrial suppliers to the renovation of historic town centres; we agree the right equipment with you just as individually as in the major cities.
In Italy, D.Lgs. 81/2008 applies to rental equipment – operators need the abilitazione
Every machine we rent out in Italy is subject to Italian occupational safety law: Decreto Legislativo 81/2008 (Testo unico sulla salute e sicurezza sul lavoro), whose Titolo III governs work equipment. For you as the hirer, four points are decisive:
-
Operator qualification: Mobile elevating work platforms (PLE) and ride-on forklifts may only be operated by persons holding an abilitazione in accordance with the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 17 April 2025 (art. 73 c. 5). IPAF can serve as additional proof but never replaces the abilitazione.
-
Instruction by the employer: In addition, every employer must instruct and train its employees on the specific machine (art. 73 c. 4).
-
Periodic inspection: Under Allegato VII, mobile elevating work platforms are subject to an annual verifica periodica, the first of which is carried out by INAIL; telehandlers must also be inspected annually.
-
Obligations at handover: For rental without an operator, we confirm the proper condition of the machine at handover and obtain your self-declaration on the training of your operators (art. 72 c. 2).
At the job site, we familiarise your team with operation and safety functions. We do not provide operating personnel; the only exception is the mobile crane, which we rent out with a crane operator.
Our machines reach every region of Italy by our own low-loader
We deliver with our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site – on the mainland as well as in Sicily. Before every transport, we clarify access, unloading area and date with you; in old towns with a Zona a traffico limitato (ZTL), in ports and on factory premises with their own access rules, this coordination is particularly important.
Our rental fleet includes scissor lifts for halls, articulating boom lifts for facades with projections, telescopic boom lifts for long reaches and mast lifts for tight interiors. For material flow, we rent forklifts with electric and diesel drive as well as rough-terrain forklifts and telehandlers from Manitou, Merlo and Magni. The platforms come mainly from Haulotte and Genie. You decide the rental period – from a short job to supporting a project over many months.
If you manage construction sites or plants in several regions at the same time, we can bundle the machines into a framework offer on request. This way you get everything from a single source, whether the machine is in Turin, Bologna or Catania.
Which platform suits your project in Italy is explained on our page Rent a lifting platform: there you will find all designs compared and the factors that determine the rental price.
