Rent Aerial Work Platforms and Telehandlers in Turin
If you need to lift loads or work at height in Turin or the surrounding area, Luibl Rental provides the machine: aerial work platforms in all common designs, telehandlers and forklifts, brought to you by our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site. The Piedmontese capital, home to just over 850,000 people, has for years been transforming from a classic car-manufacturing location into a centre for mobility technology, aerospace and research. Old factory halls are being repurposed, Baroque facades restored and new logistics sites developed. Below you will find out which machine suits which task in Turin, which rules Italian law sets for operators and employers, and how delivery works.
Turin's industry and urban redevelopment create demand for lifting and handling equipment
Turin's economy is still shaped by industry today. In the south lies the Mirafiori plant, where cars have been built since the 1930s; around the city, numerous suppliers, toolmakers and engineering firms are at work. Anyone converting conveyor systems, repairing hall roofs or setting up new production lines there needs platforms for overhead installation work and forklifts for the flow of materials.
Then there is aerospace: Thales Alenia Space builds pressurised modules for space stations in Turin, and other companies in the sector operate in the region. Their clean rooms and assembly halls call for electrically powered equipment that produces no exhaust at the point of use.
Urban redevelopment provides the third task. Along the Spina Centrale, a boulevard built over the railway line that was moved underground, housing, university buildings and offices have been built on former industrial land. The Lingotto, the former Fiat factory with the test track on its roof, is a prime example of how the city puts old halls to new use. Finally, for logistics and freight handling there is the SITO freight village in Orbassano, west of the city.
Universities and event venues also generate work: the Politecnico di Torino maintains extensive laboratory and institute buildings, and the Lingotto Fiere exhibition centre hosts a steady succession of exhibitions and congresses. For installation and conversion work in such buildings, quiet, compact machines that protect sensitive floors are what count.
Telehandlers and forklifts in Turin: from shell construction to the factory hall
Many projects in Turin start with moving materials. That is why we carry handling equipment for a very wide range of loads:
-
Telehandlers for site and yard: A rigid telehandler such as the Manitou MT 730 H lifts up to 3,000 kg and reaches a lift height of 6.90 m. This lets you place pallets of bricks or insulation on the first floor without setting up a crane. Alongside Manitou, we offer models from Magni and Merlo; Merlo builds its machines in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont itself.
-
Forklifts for production: In the factory halls of suppliers and machine builders, electric forklifts move mesh pallets, tools and semi-finished products, while diesel forklifts handle loading and unloading in the works yard.
-
All-terrain equipment for the hill country: On unpaved ground on the outskirts, in the hills east of the Po or on wine estates in the Langhe, rough-terrain forklifts and four-wheel-drive telehandlers are used.
Please note: in Italy, telehandlers are subject to an annual inspection (verifica periodica) under Annex VII of D.Lgs. 81/2008.
Aerial work platforms for Turin: arcades, Baroque facades and hall roofs
Turin's centre still follows the right-angled street grid of its Roman foundation, framed by kilometres of arcades, the portici. This style of building determines the choice of equipment just as much as the size of the industrial halls in the surrounding area:
-
Under the portici and in shop premises: Mast lifts are narrow and light enough to drive through doors and work under arcade vaults, for example when installing lighting or signage.
-
On facades with balconies and cornices: The grand buildings on Via Roma or Piazza San Carlo have deep projections. Articulating boom lifts guide the basket around these obstacles with their jib arm.
-
In factory and warehouse halls: On level hall floors in Grugliasco, Settimo Torinese or Moncalieri, scissor lifts with a large platform do the work; the electric models range from 8 to 18 m.
-
On tall buildings and roofs: For facades of office towers or work on high hall roofs with a large outreach, telescopic boom lifts are the right choice, in our fleet up to 57 m working height.
The platforms are mainly built by Haulotte and Genie. In Italy, mobile elevating work platforms (PLE) must be inspected every year under Annex VII of D.Lgs. 81/2008; the first of these verifiche periodiche is carried out by INAIL.
Your work in Turin is governed by the operator rules of Italian law
The decisive legislation is the Testo unico (D.Lgs. 81/2008), whose Title III regulates work equipment (attrezzature di lavoro). For you as the hirer, this results in three steps:
-
Select operators: Aerial work platforms as well as forklifts and telehandlers with a driver's seat may only be operated by persons holding the abilitazione under the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 17 April 2025 (Art. 73 para. 5). An IPAF certificate may be held in addition, but does not replace this qualification.
-
Instruct operators: As the employer, you also owe your staff appropriate, machine-specific instruction (formazione e addestramento, Art. 73 para. 4).
-
Document the handover: For rental without an operator, we confirm on handover that the machine is in proper, serviced and safe condition. You give us a self-declaration that your operators are appropriately trained; we keep this for the entire rental period (Art. 72 para. 2).
We do not provide machine operators. On delivery, however, we explain operation, emergency lowering and safety functions to your team (istruzioni all'uso).
We deliver to Turin with our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site
We handle transport with our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site – into the city centre, along the Tangenziale, into the Susa Valley or to a site in the hills above the Po. We agree access, unloading area and date with you in advance, because space is tight in the lanes of the Quadrilatero Romano and under the arcades. Via the motorways to Milan, Piacenza and Savona and the A32 towards Frejus, we also reach job sites far outside the city. In winter, for sites in Alpine valleys, we also check with you whether access and set-up area have been cleared. If you are running projects at several locations in northern Italy, you can also rent from us for Milan or Genoa.
