Forklift Rental in Deggendorf: Four Decisions to the Right Model
Forklift rental in Deggendorf: 53 models with 1,200 to 33,000 kg capacity and up to 6.07 m lift height are available. Deggendorf lies partly in the flat Danube plain and partly on the foothills of the Bavarian Forest, and it also has a Danube port and the motorway junction of the A3 and A92. Sites and ground conditions vary accordingly. Instead of going through every model individually, four questions lead to the right machine: indoors or outdoors, firm or soft ground, how heavy the heaviest load is and how high it has to go. The Construction machinery rental in Deggendorf page gives an overview of the city, and the Forklifts category shows all models. We deliver by low-loader from Passau.
Forklift rental in Deggendorf: four decisions to the right model
Each decision rules out types until only a few models remain. The table shows where each answer leads.
| Decision | Answer | Type | Models | Key figures |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Space | indoors | Electric, High-lift pallet trucks | 22 + 6 | 1,200–10,000 kg, 2.70–6.00 m |
| 1 Space | outdoors | Diesel | 11 | 3,000–10,000 kg, 4.50–6.00 m |
| 1 Space | alternating | LPG | 3 | 1,800–7,000 kg, 5.04–6.03 m |
| 2 Ground | soft, unpaved | Rough-terrain | 4 | 3,000–5,000 kg, 4.75–5.45 m |
| 3 Load | over 10,000 kg | Heavy-duty | 7 | 8,000–33,000 kg, 4.50–6.07 m |
| 4 Height | over 6.07 m or over an edge | Telehandler | – | separate equipment group |
The order is deliberate: space and ground can rarely be changed; load and height then determine the size of the machine.
If more than one answer applies to a decision, for example because the forklift works in the warehouse in the morning and in the yard in the afternoon, the share of operating time decides. With a roughly equal split, a second, smaller machine is sometimes worthwhile instead of a compromise that does not really fit anywhere.
Decision 1: forklifts in Deggendorf for indoors, outdoors or both
Indoors: electric and high-lift pallet trucks
Plastics and wood processing are among the city's industries. In such halls, forklifts often work close to people and machines, and an electric forklift is locally emission-free in operation there. The 22 electric models carry up to 10,000 kg; for narrow aisles and light pallets, the six high-lift pallet trucks are sufficient. Before delivery, clarify where the machine will be charged overnight or during breaks and whether a suitable connection is available there. When bringing items into buildings, such as laboratory equipment or machines in teaching and office buildings, door width, lift dimensions and the permissible floor load also count.
Outdoors: diesel
In open storage areas, loading yards and at the port, the diesel forklift is the robust workhorse. It needs no charging breaks and copes with rain, dust and cold.
Alternating: LPG, with reservations
If the forklift moves back and forth between yard and hall, an LPG forklift can be suitable. In enclosed spaces it is only permitted if the risk assessment expressly allows it; ventilation and duration of use play a role here.
Decision 2: forklifts in Deggendorf on firm or soft ground
Paved: port and commercial areas
The Deggendorf Danube port covers around 55 ha with 28 berths and about 1,500 m of quay wall; it is operated by the Zweckverband Donau-Hafen Deggendorf. On such paved surfaces, standard diesel and electric forklifts are sufficient. The operator determines which rules apply on the premises.
Soft: floodplain and slopes
In the Fischerdorf district, the Isar flows into the Danube. During the 2013 flood, an Isar dyke broke there, and Fischerdorf and Natternberg were completely flooded. On construction sites in the floodplain, the ground is often damp and has little bearing capacity. This is where the four rough-terrain forklifts come in, moving 3,000 to 5,000 kg on unpaved ground.
The districts on the left bank of the Danube lie in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park, where the terrain rises. On slopes, drive with the load on the uphill side and plan level set-down points.
The ground often changes on the same site: delivery takes place on asphalt, while the construction area itself is gravel or natural ground. The decisive factor is then the weakest stretch the forklift has to drive with a load. If it can be reinforced with panels or a site road, an ordinary diesel forklift may be sufficient.
Decision 3: the weight of the heaviest load determines the forklift in Deggendorf
What counts is not the average weight but the heaviest item moved during the rental period. Where its centre of gravity lies also matters: long or off-centre loads push the usable capacity below the value on the rating plate. You can find the weight on the delivery note, in the packing list or on the machine's rating plate; crates of machine parts often also have the centre of gravity marked on the outside.
Up to 10,000 kg
Electric and diesel forklifts cover this range. Small models are sufficient for pallets in the warehouse; for components from light-metal and reactor construction, which are also among Deggendorf's industries, the upper classes are more appropriate. If you are torn between two sizes, choose the stronger one: a forklift sized too tightly is sluggish with a heavy load, brakes longer and leaves no margin when stacking for a crate that turns out heavier than stated.
Over 10,000 kg
Seven heavy-duty forklifts carry 8,000 to 33,000 kg. The Kalmar DCG 330-12T is the most powerful model at 33,000 kg. For such assignments, check the route, floor slab, door height and turning circle. For loads that have to be slung and lifted, a mini crane is also an option in Deggendorf.
Decision 4: lift height and edges – where the forklift in Deggendorf reaches its limit
The forklifts in the rental fleet lift up to 6.07 m; the maximum is reached by the Hyundai 80D-9. That is enough for racks, truck beds and most mezzanine floors in halls. The higher the forks, the less they may carry; the residual capacity at full height is sometimes well below the nominal value and is shown in the machine's load chart.
Mast height
The retracted mast height also matters, because it has to fit under doors and the hall ceiling. Measure the lowest clearance on the way to the site before you order. A mast with a large lift height is usually taller when retracted as well, so the tallest forklift is not automatically the best. Choose a lift height as close as possible above the highest placement point.
Over the edge
If a load has to go over a parapet, scaffolding or a roof edge, a forklift cannot set it down because its forks do not extend forwards. In that case, a telehandler is the right machine; types and applications are shown on the Telehandlers in Deggendorf page. For work on the facade itself, there are telescopic boom lifts in Deggendorf.
Delivery from Passau to Deggendorf and the neighbouring municipalities
From Passau it is around 60 km via the A3 to Deggendorf, where the A3 meets the A92 at the Deggendorf motorway junction. The forklifts arrive by low-loader; at the destination, a level, load-bearing unloading area and access without narrow passages are required. How delivery works is explained under Transport. The A3 between Deggendorf and Hengersberg is to be widened to six lanes by 2030; we take possible roadworks on the route into account when planning the delivery date.
We also deliver to the neighbouring municipalities, such as Niederalteich, Stephansposching, Grafling, Schaufling and Moos. Plattling and Straubing have their own city pages. For assignments in hillside districts, for example on the left bank of the Danube, include gradients and tight bends on the access road in your enquiry so that a suitable low-loader can be chosen.
Obligations when using forklifts in Deggendorf
Who may drive
DGUV Vorschrift 68 stipulates in § 7: drivers are at least 18 years old, suitable, trained in accordance with DGUV Grundsatz 308-001 and authorised in writing by the employer.
What the company regulates
Before use, the operator assesses the hazards in accordance with § 3 BetrSichV, such as LPG in halls, gradients on slopes or traffic at the port. Instruction is given in accordance with § 12 ArbSchG and § 12 BetrSichV. At handover, we show your driver the controls, the daily check and the special features of the rented model. This equipment familiarisation requires completed training and does not replace it. If training is missing, we will inform you about Training via certified partners free of charge and without obligation.
