Rent Aerial Work Platforms and Forklifts in Florence
In Florence, trade businesses, construction companies, industry and logistics firms can rent aerial work platforms, forklifts and telehandlers from Luibl Rental; delivery is handled by our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site. The Tuscan capital has around 360,000 inhabitants, and its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means two things: within the old town, narrow, lightweight machines and carefully planned access are what count, whereas in the industrial areas on the plain between Florence and Prato, lifting height, load capacity and continuous operation matter most. Read here which machines we recommend for which Florentine task, which rules Italian occupational safety law sets out and how delivery works.
Florence demands compact equipment in the centre and high-performance machines in the industrial areas
The Florence economic area is more diverse than a glance at the Duomo and the Uffizi might suggest:
-
Turbine and plant engineering: Nuovo Pignone, now part of Baker Hughes, builds turbines and compressors in Florence. Assembly, test benches and hall installations require platforms and forklifts with high load capacity.
-
Fashion and leather: In Scandicci and the surrounding area, workshops produce bags and shoes for international luxury brands, and neighbouring Prato is home to one of Europe's major textile districts. Pitti Uomo and other fashion fairs at the Fortezza da Basso need equipment for stand construction.
-
Commercial and logistics areas: Osmannoro between Sesto Fiorentino and Campi Bisenzio, as well as Calenzano on the A1, concentrate wholesale, freight forwarding and production. Electric forklifts and scissor lifts often run in multi-shift operation here.
-
Heritage conservation and hospitality: Natural stone palazzi, churches and numerous hotels are continually restored and modernised – often with little space in front of the building.
-
Urban transport and wine: The expansion of the tram network is changing entire streets, and south of the city the Chianti begins, with wineries, olive groves and farms.
Aerial work platforms in Florence: from the palazzo courtyard to the warehouse in Osmannoro
Facades of pietra forte, cornices of pietra serena and roofs of terracotta tiles: anyone working on historic buildings in Florence wants to protect the existing fabric yet still needs height. Articulating boom lifts have proven themselves in such locations. Their articulated arm clears roof overhangs and crown cornices, so the basket gets close to the facade while the machine stands on the square or in the courtyard.
In church naves, museums and shops, width and floor loading count. Mast lifts fit through standard doors and load the floor over a small area. They are also an option for hotels with a light well or conservatory.
In Osmannoro, Calenzano or Scandicci, things look different: there, scissor lifts work on level hall floors on lighting, ventilation and racking, electrically and without exhaust emissions at the job site. For new builds on the outskirts, on hall roofs or on masts along the motorway, telescopic boom lifts reach great heights with a wide lateral outreach.
Most of our platforms come from Haulotte and Genie; every machine is serviced according to the manufacturer's schedule before delivery.
Forklifts and telehandlers in Florence – from Osmannoro to the Chianti
For material handling in the Florence area, we offer two equipment families. Our forklifts are available as electric models for halls and cold stores, with diesel engines for outdoor areas and as rough-terrain forklifts for gravel and soil. Typical sites are freight forwarders in Osmannoro, warehouses of leather goods manufacturers in Scandicci or a winery in the Chianti, where crates, tanks and pallets are moved during the harvest.
Telehandlers combine lifting height and reach. On construction sites they place pallets of stone or bricks on scaffolding and floor slabs; on farms they stack straw bales or big bags. We rent models from Manitou, Merlo and Magni, as fixed machines or with a rotating superstructure. If you need a platform and a load handler for the same project at the same time, you get both in one quote.
Working safely in Florence: what Italian occupational safety law requires of hirer and rental company
The basis for all work equipment on Florentine construction sites is the Testo unico on occupational safety (D.Lgs. 81/2008, Titolo III). For rental without an operator, this results in the following rules:
Operators with abilitazione. Under art. 73 c. 5, mobile elevating work platforms (PLE) and ride-on forklifts may only be operated by persons who hold a specific qualification. Their training is laid down in the Accordo Stato-Regioni of 17 April 2025. An IPAF certificate is welcome as additional proof but cannot replace the abilitazione.
Instruction within your own company. In addition, the employer must specifically instruct and train its employees on the respective machine (formazione e addestramento, art. 73 c. 4).
Documents at handover. Under art. 72 c. 2, as the rental company we confirm the proper condition of the machine at handover. From you we receive a self-declaration that your operators are appropriately trained (dichiarazione autocertificativa).
Annual inspection. Aerial work platforms and telehandlers must undergo the verifica periodica in accordance with Allegato VII once a year; the first inspection is carried out by INAIL.
On site, we explain the controls and emergency functions to your team. We do not rent out operators.
Delivery in Florence and Tuscany – with our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site
We transport every machine ourselves. Our drivers come with our own low-loader fleet directly to the job site, whether in the city of Florence, in Prato, Empoli or at a winery in the Chianti. In the old town, good preparation is key: large parts of the centre lie within the Zona a traffico limitato (ZTL), and many lanes are narrow. We therefore agree access, unloading point and date with you so that the machine can be set down safely. We reach industrial areas along the A1 and the Florence–Pisa–Livorno expressway just as well as farms on hillsides, whose access via farm tracks we check with you in advance. Are you also managing projects in other regions? We also provide rental equipment for Bologna, Rome and Genoa.
Would you like to compare the designs first? Under Rent a lifting platform – all platform types at a glance we compare scissor, articulating boom, telescopic boom, mast, crawler and truck-mounted platforms side by side and explain what influences the rental price.
